U.S. First Kids: Who they are and where they are now


From JFK’s daughter to Barron Trump.

The children of presidents are as involved in the spotlight as their parents are. A lot of them have to go through their childhoods in the White House, a grand experience that while unique and special, it’s likely alienating. And while parents try their best to shield their kids from the public eye and the camera lens, every year this gets more and more difficult, forcing kids and teens in these positions to grow up under a lot of constraints.

Being the child of the president means that there’s a certain expectation to fulfill some duties with the American public, whether that means becoming a public figure in the future or getting involved in politics in order to push the legacy of your family. Caroline Kennedy

Caroline Kennedy is the daughter of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy. She was three years old when she moved into the White House and was born into one of America’s most political and famous families. Kennedy studied law and became the first woman to serve as an ambassador of Japan, working in the Obama administration. She’s now the president of the JFK Presidential Library and has three children, including JFK Jr. look-a-like Jack Schlossberg.

Chelsea Clinton

Chelsea Clinton is the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton and entered the White House when she was 12 years old. She studied at Stanford University and is now the vice chair of the Clinton Foundation. She’s worked as an NBC correspondent and is a published author. She has three kids with her husband Marc Mervinsky.

Barbara Pierce Bush

George and Laura Bush had twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna. In 2004, while her father was campaigning for the presidency, Barbara had just graduated from Yale and had moved to New York. As a young woman, she did some volunteer work, including in a children’s hospital in South Africa and the UNICEF in Botswana. She then co-founded the Global Health Corps and was a supporter of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

Jenna Bush Hager

Jenna graduated from the University of Texas and worked as a teacher’s aide and later on took a spot in UNICEF, in Latin America. She’s now a host at The Today Show.

Malia Obama

Malia Obama, the daughter of Barack and Michelle, was 10 years old when her dad was elected to office. She graduated from Harvard and is now a screenwriter working in Hollywood. Her most notorious work was writing for “Hive,” a series co-created by Donald Glover that earned Emmy recognition.

Sasha Obama

Sasha is the Obamas‘ youngest daughter and lived in the White House when she was 7 years old. She was the youngest child to live in the home since John F. Kennedy Jr. Sasha recently graduated from the University of Southern California.

Donald Trump Jr.

Donald Trump Jr. is Donald Trump’s eldest son. His mom is the late Ivana Trump, who also had his siblings Ivanka and Eric. Trump Jr. has worked for many of his father’s businesses, including the TV show “The Apprentice,” and the Trump Organization, where he served as the executive vice president.

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump is one of the Trump’s family most notorious members. She served as a White House adviser over the course of her father’s presidency and has worked on the Trump organization with her brothers. She now lives in Miami with her husband Jared Kushner, and their three children.

Eric Trump

Eric Trump is the youngest of Ivana’s children and worked in many of his father’s businesses, including “The Apprentice” and the Trump Organization.

Tiffany Trump

Tiffany Trump is the only daughter of Donald Trump and his second wife, Marla Maples. She was known for being a young New York socialite and is now based in Miami. She studied law at Georgetown University and married Michael Boulos in 2022.

Barron Trump

Lastly, Barron Trump, the son of Donald and his third wife Melania Trump, was the first kid to live in the White House since the Obama girls. He was also the first boy to live there since JFK Jr. He’s currently studying high school in Florida, expected to graduate in 2024.
