It's no secret that the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Harry's family has been strained for some time, with the Sussexes adding fuel to the fire with each new media project they undertake. Harry's brother and sister-in-law, the Prince and Princess of Wales, have both come in for criticism from the California-based couple.
But it wasn't always like that. When Harry and Meghan gave their very first joint interview, they heaped praise on both William and his wife Kate. The newly-engaged couple spoke to the BBC shortly after Harry popped the question, and spoke about Meghan's introduction to his relatives.
"It was exciting... you know I'd been seeing her for a period of time when I - literally didn't tell anybody at all," Harry replied. "And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine.
"So, you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in quite a few times and Catherine has been absolutely... "She's been wonderful," Meghan interjected. "Amazing," the Prince agreed. "As has William as well, you know, fantastic support."

Three months later, the Sussexes looked delighted to share a stage with William and Kate as the charismatic foursome joined forces to help humanitarian causes under the banner Making A Difference Together. In fact, Harry made a point of explaining how well they all got on.
"I think it's really good that we've got four different personalities,” he said. "You know, we've all got that same passion to want to make a difference." Meghan added: "Togetherness at its finest." Those happier times are certainly worth reflecting on as the new year gets underway.
