Prince Harry's 'inspiring international family'

That's not his description of the Windsors, but of the Invictus organisation

If the Duke of Sussex has one cause that means more to him than any other, it's the Invictus Games for disabled service personnel (3). As an ex-soldier, he has seen comrades (2) suffer life-changing injuries and mental trauma, and knows how bravely they struggle to overcome these issues. That's why a decade ago he founded Invictus - which means unconquered - to shine a light on their courage.

According to the Invictus Games Foundation's website, the high profile Paralympic style contest aims to "use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded (3), injured and sick servicemen and women".

Harry has commented: “These Games have shone a spotlight (4) on the ‘unconquerable’ character of servicemen and women, their families and the ‘invictus’ spirit. These Games have been about seeing guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning round to clap (5) the last man in. They have been about teammates choosing to cross the line together, not wanting to come second, but not wanting the other guys to either. These Games have shown the very best of the human spirit.”

The Prince has himself benefited from the comradeship he's found in the organisation, which now exists in countries across the globe, and which he has called his "inspiring international family".

This year will see the sixth edition of the Games, to be held in Germany in September. Meanwhile Prince Harry's upcoming Netflix series, Heart of Invictus, is expected to launch this summer.
