Becky G is done whispering. Her new documentary "Rebbeca" is proof that she’s ready to speak her mind, even when her heart is doing most of the talking. It’s a raw, reflective dive into the whirlwind of love, betrayal, healing, and self-definition that’s shaped the woman behind the global star.

"Rebbeca," playing in select theaters December 10 and 13, peels back the glittery layers of fame to reveal a very human story, one that’s been sitting under public speculation since March 2023. More than two years after her former fiancé, professional soccer player Sebastian Lletget, became engulfed in cheating allegations, Becky finally shares her perspective, not with tabloid-style venom but with vulnerability.

A Love Story That Got Complicated

In the film, Becky starts at the beginning. She was 19. Sebastian was 23. Neither was exactly trolling the dating waters, yet something clicked. Their shared Latino identities, family histories, and cultural humor built an almost instant connection. That’s a rare kind of spark, the kind that makes you believe in cosmic matchmaking.

Then her mom, Alejandra Gomez, steps in with that vintage mom-wisdom that’s both grounding and compassionate. "I don’t expect perfection from my kids, and I don’t expect perfection from the people that love them," she says. "I know they’re working through it. They’re both deserving of their own beautiful love story."

When A Public Relationship Turns Into A Public Reckoning

Then came March 2023. A viral Instagram post. Cheating claims. Screenshots. Accusations. Internet detectives punching overtime. It was messy, loud, and relentless.

Sebastian responded with a lengthy statement, admitting to a “10-minute lapse in judgment,” vowing to rebuild trust, and revealing he’d entered a mental wellness program. He called Becky the light of his life and acknowledged how deeply he’d hurt her.

Despite his words, Becky stayed silent. That silence, she reveals now, came with a price.

The Pain Behind Closed Doors

In "Rebbeca", Becky finally says what she couldn’t say then. "This is when I have a really hard time with the concept of, 'This is what you signed up for.' I did not sign up for this. I feel like behind closed doors is my experience," she said, referring to scrutiny. Becky says it was "hard to feel safe" when she had already endured "so much pain."

"The hardest part is my silence was confused for weakness," she says. "There’s no words that would make it better… only actions." She describes the aftermath as emotionally disorienting, explaining that it was hard to feel safe enough to open up. The world wanted a statement, a reaction, a headline. She wanted to breathe.

Where Do Becky and Sebastian Stand Now?

The film keeps their relationship status intentionally blurry. Instead, by the end, we see a man who appears to be Sebastian—shown only from behind—as Becky reflects on how real, lasting connections evolve. “The people who are meant to be in your life… they’re the ones who grow with you,” she says.

While the headlines will cling to the relationship drama, "Rebbeca" isn’t defined by it. The film digs deeper—into heritage, family history, grief, ambition, and the seismic shift that comes when a young woman decides she’s done performing emotional perfection.

We watch her craft her debut Música Mexicana album, reconnect with her roots, and explore how her family’s losses and triumphs shaped her. The documentary shows Becky navigating the most high-pressure year of her career while also undergoing personal upheaval. It’s a portrait of a woman reclaiming her narrative in real time.

The Bigger Story Becky G Is Telling

Ultimately, "Rebbeca" isn’t about scandal. It’s about surrender—the kind that doesn’t mean giving up, but giving in to growth. Becky says it best: “We will never be the same again. And I think that’s the point.”

The documentary shows an artist stepping fully into adulthood, choosing transparency over perfection, and reminding us that even pop stars feel the sting of heartbreak and the stubborn hope of healing.
