Anya Taylor-Joy and Cara Delevingne are embracing their unexpected fashion connection. The two close friends attended the Golden Globes and were surprised when they saw each other and realized that they looked very similar to Romy and Michele, the characters played by Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in the film "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion".

Taylor-Joy wore a bright pink satin dress that she paired with a cream colored shawl while Delevingne wore a bright blue dress of a similar cut. The outfits are incredibly similar to the ones worn in one of the most famous scenes of "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion."

The film follows lifelong best friends who get invited to their high school reunion, deciding to invent incredible fictional lives in order to wow their former classmates. It's become a cult classic and remains a favorite for many cinema fans, being some of the most popular works of Sorvino and Kudrow's career.

The movie is also a big deal for fashion fans, with Romy and Michele's outfits often serving as inspiration for many Y2K looks.

Despite the unexpectedness of it all, Taylor-Joy and Delevingne decided to embrace the vibes on the red carpet. "We did it by accident,” said Taylor-Joy to Variety on the red carpet. “But we're now going for, 'It's on purpose.’”

"It was a lucky mistake," agreed Delevingne.

Taylor-Joy and Delevingne are very close friends

Taylor-Joy and Delevingne have developed a friendship that has blossomed over the past few years. The two first met in 2021, at a fashion show in Athens, and quickly developed a close bond, with Delevingne discussing it on her Instagram.

"Find people that will tell you when you have something in your teeth and when you need it most, tell you things you may not want to hear," she wrote at the time.

"Connection is the only way we can learn and grow so be the women that fixes another women’s crown (dress) instead of pointing out that it was crooked."

Years later, Delevingne was one of the lucky guests at Taylor-Joy's secret wedding with Malcolm McRae. It appears like she was her maid of honor.
