Meet Paulina Dávila, Sofía Vergara’s cousin, who also stars in ‘Griselda’

Paulina Dávila, 35, was born in Medellín, Colombia, although a significant part of her career took place in other countries such as Mexico. Her face is likely familiar, as she has appeared in various series and films.

Among her recent works are ‘Ella camina sola’ (ViX), ‘Un extraño enemigo’ (Prime Video), ‘Ritmo Salvaje’ (Netflix), among other series. She has also acted in at least a dozen movies and shorts.

In 2018, Paulina Dávila portrayed Mariana Yazbek in ‘Luis Miguel: The Series.’ In real life, Mariana and ‘El Sol’ (Luis Miguel) shared a passionate romance in the 1980s, underscoring the significance of depicting her in the singer’s narrative.

Soon, we will see Paulina in the role of Isabel in ‘Griselda,’ the highly anticipated Netflix series, where she shares credits with Sofía Vergara, her cousin.

In a recent interview on the Colombian show ‘Día a Día’ on Caracol TV, Paulina revealed that she is Sofía Vergara’s second cousin. Despite the family tie, they hadn’t spent time together for years, so they reconnected on the series and rebuilt their relationship. “Sofía is my cousin, which is curious because we reconnected through the series. Before that, I hadn’t seen her since I was eight. So, it was a very nice reunion, and I think it was interesting for the characters.”

Paulina visited Sofía Vergara in Los Angeles during this family reunion and met Manolo Vergara. Despite being discreet about her connection to the Hollywood actress, Paulina has given a glimpse of this on her social media through a few throwback photos, showing that they have a great relationship.

In one photo, Paulina looks around eight years old, while Sofía was already in her twenties, beginning to seek opportunities in the world of acting.

From the descriptions in her photos, Paulina reveals that she has fond memories of her cousin. “I still see her with the same eyes as that girl... All my love and admiration always @sofiaverg,” she wrote alongside this photo.

Now that they have reunited, the cousins often see each other in Los Angeles and have been spending a lot of time together due to the filming of ‘Griselda’ and its promotion in various countries around the world.

Last August, Sofia and Paulina attended one of Karol G’s concerts for the ‘Mañana será bonito’ tour. In this photo, the two cousins appear alongside actor Alberto Guerra, who also has a role in the upcoming series.

Regarding her role in ‘Griselda,’ Paulina revealed the following: “My character is named Isabel, she is Griselda’s friend, a bit of her emotional support. And she also takes care of a part of her operation.”

About the opportunity to be part of this production, Paulina told ‘Día a Día’: “It’s a project of dimensions that are new to me and impacts on another level, and it was very nice to work with that cast; the production was amazing.”
