As Norway bid a final farewell to King Harald V, the Principality of Monaco joined in honoring the late monarch with a poignant tribute of its own.
The Prince’s Palace of Monaco shared a solemn video on September 9, the day of King Harald’s funeral in Oslo, simply captioning the post, “Hommage au Roi Harald V de Norvège. “Tribute to King Harald V of Norway.”

The gesture from Monaco underscored how Harald’s death has resonated well beyond his homeland. During his decades on the throne, the Norwegian monarch shared the European royal stage with generations of kings, queens, princes and princesses, including Monaco’s reigning sovereign, Prince Albert II.
