Meghan Markle has been the subject of much speculation. Before her move to the UK was announced, many believed she'd been working on rebuilding her acting career. The most recent project that she's rumored to be involved with is the Netflix series "The Gentlemen," which just released its second season.

The action series is based on Guy Ritchie's film of the same name, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario. In an interview with Town & Country, James had a hilarious response to the speculation surrounding Markle's involvement in the show.

“Yes, Fergie is joining," he said, referencing Sarah Ferguson. He then joked that she'd be playing his love interest. James said that the speculation of Markle's involvement is "a lot of hot air."

“At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on Season 2, and then Season 3 will happen soon," he added.

Is Markle making her acting comeback?

Over the past year, Meghan Markle has been rumored to be staging an acting comeback. Back in 2017, Markle announced her retirement from acting, concluding her run on the TV show "Suits" to focus on her royal duties. She played the role of Rachel Zane for seven seasons.

Recent reports suggested she might have been involved with "The Gentlemen," with a Netflix representative saying, encouraging the commentary. "All bets are off," said Manda Levin, Netflix's UK scripted chief. It seems like James has shut those rumors down.

Still, Markle will be making her official acting comeback in the upcoming film "Close Personal Friends," where she'll appear in a cameo. She was spotted on the film's set in November of last year. A source told PEOPLE that Markle was "very relaxed and happy" on set. “She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth,” they said.

A separate source told The Sun that Markle's involvement with the project is meaningful, representing "a return to doing what she truly loves.”

“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” they added.
