Princess Lilibet has found an activity she loves, and her cousin Princess Charlotte knows the feeling. Meghan Markle revealed that her 5-year-old daughter is enjoying gymnastics, offering a new glimpse into the young princess’s interests during an outing with Prince Harry in Nottingham on October 15.
The Duchess of Sussex shared the detail while joining schoolchildren for a confidence-building workshop at Community Recording Studio, a charity supporting young people through creative opportunities.
According to People, the conversation turned to hobbies as the children made friendship bracelets and discussed what made them happy. When one child mentioned gymnastics and crafting, Meghan offered a personal connection. “My daughter’s doing gymnastics right now. She loves it,” she said.
The comment revealed a shared interest between Lilibet and Charlotte, 11, whose enthusiasm for gymnastics has been mentioned by both of her parents over the years.
Princess Charlotte’s love of gymnastics goes back years:
Charlotte’s interest first attracted attention during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, which she attended with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
During a visit to SportsAid House, the young princess spoke about the sports she enjoyed. Tim Lawler, the charity’s chief executive, later recalled that Charlotte had been particularly clear about her favorite, telling him, “It’s gymnastics that I like.”
Kate also described her daughter’s fondness for practicing handstands and cartwheels at home. Her enthusiasm appears to have lasted. According to People, William mentioned Charlotte’s love of gymnastics and ballet again during the family’s visit to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
Now, Meghan’s latest comment suggests that Lilibet is discovering her own enjoyment of the sport, giving the two cousins something in common despite their six-year age difference.
A shared interest after childhoods spent an ocean apart:
Lilibet and her older brother, Prince Archie, spent most of their early childhoods in California, while Charlotte and her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, grew up in the U.K.
Now that the Sussex children are back in Britain, they are closer to their royal cousins. While a reunion has not been publicly confirmed, Meghan’s latest revelation shows that Lilibet and Charlotte already share a love of gymnastics.
A meaningful return to Nottingham:
The family update came during a visit to a city with personal significance for Harry and Meghan. Nottingham was the destination for their first official outing following their engagement announcement in 2017.
Nearly nine years later, the couple returned for charity visits in their first joint public appearance since coming back to live in Britain. Their itinerary began at Community Recording Studio, where Meghan’s conversation with the children prompted the sweet revelation about Lilibet.
