Queen Máxima of the Netherlands has arrived in India. The stylish and beloved Queen will take part in a series of official engagements that run from June 23 through June 25 as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).
Before heading to New Delhi, the queen began her visit in Mumbai, where she showcased her signature fashion approach at diplomatic events, drawing on the location for inspiration. Her first look of the trip featured an ethnic-inspired print in green and white, two of the three colors that make up India's national flag.
A linen set made for summer
For her first engagements, Máxima brought back a two-piece Natan Couture ensemble featuring a white ethnic-inspired print against a green background. The Belgian fashion house remains one of the cornerstones of her wardrobe.
The outfit is well-suited to India's warm climate and this particular season of the year, with all elements crafted from linen, a lightweight fabric known for its breathability. It's one of the most famous fabrics during the summer months.
The ensemble includes Natan Couture's Gigi wrap-style top, designed with a coordinating sash that cinches the waist, paired with the brand's Gilson wide-leg trousers.
The look has been worn by Máxima before. She first wore it on September 9, 2021, during a virtual meeting with the governor of the Central Bank of West African States. Since then, she has only worn the outfit once, during a visit to the United Arab Emirates and Expo Dubai on November 3, 2021.
Towering wedges and artisanal accessories
Since the Queen embraces fashion pieces and outfits that she's previously worn, accessories make up a key part of her wardrobe. In this instance, she leaned into the handcrafted aesthetic of the ensemble. In photos captured by photographers, Maxima is seen carrying a crocheted handbag by LH Handmade. She paired the look with ivory platform wedge sandals that featured raffia detailing.
The shoes are Valentino Garavani's Rockstud wedge sandals, distinguished by their signature studded ankle strap. Since debuting them at the Dutch Grand Prix on August 25, 2024, the shoes have become one of the standout pieces in her wardrobe, with her pairing them with all kinds of looks. The towering design adds nearly five inches to her height.
Máxima completed the outfit with some striking jewelry. She wore gold earrings and a pearl-beaded necklace, adding a polished finishing touch to her colorful summer look.
