The Princess of Wales would like to go Down Under with her kids. The royal mom of three spoke about her love for travel and where she'd like to go with her children during her visit to Wellington Barracks on St. Patrick's Day.

"George finds it fascinating that he has been to Australia and New Zealand," Catherine said (via HELLO!), referring to her and Prince William's royal tour of New Zealand and Australia in April 2014. Prince George, who was less than a year old at the time, accompanied his parents on the trip.

"I would like to go back there with them now," the Princess said. However, Her Royal Highness pointed out that "it's finding time to do that." "But I love to travel – yes, it's a long flight," she said.

Catherine also shared that she loves "the Middle East because that's familiar to me [from] growing up." When she was 2 years old, the Princess moved with her family to Amman, Jordan, where her dad Michael Middleton worked for two and a half years.

The Waleses have previously visited Jordan as a family. In 2021, Prince William and Catherine traveled to the country with their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family's holiday card that year featured a snapshot from their trip.

While in Jordan in 2018, William remarked that “Kate loved it here, she really did," and in a speech at a reception, he said that his wife's "family remembers very fondly the almost three years she spent here as a child when her father worked for British Airways in Amman."

At Wellington Barracks on March 17, Catherine noted that "there are so many opportunities now to travel," adding, "I think it's brilliant to experience it." The Princess of Wales said, "We tend to go further afield when it’s official visits, it's being able to carve out time to experience these countries in a more private capacity,” she explained. “Otherwise, you end up seeing lots of insides of amazing buildings, but you don't get to meet that many people."

“It’s making sure that you can combine a bit of work with the children,” she added.

The Princess, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, visited the regiment to meet with soldiers and veterans, and attend the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Monday marked Catherine's first time back at the parade since 2023. The Princess of Wales, who underwent major abdominal surgery in January 2024, missed last year's event. Following her surgery, it was announced that Catherine would be unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter that year. Five days after St. Patrick's Day 2024, it was revealed that the Princess was in the early stages of a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she started in late February 2024. Catherine has since completed her treatment and is in remission.
