Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos are some of the most famous Miami residents. Ever since they moved out of Seattle and headed to Florida, the couple has immersed themselves in the socialite life of Miami, a space they share with numerous celebrities and wealthy businessmen, among them, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, David and Victoria Beckham, and many more.

Aside from attending the city's most noteworthy parties and events, the couple also enjoys some fine dining. Despite Miami's wealth of luxurious and expensive restaurants, one of the Bezos' favorites is a small business in Little Havana: Cafe La Trova.

The Cuban restaurant has become one of the city's most coveted places, blending traditional Cuban foods with modern techniques, delicious cocktails, and fun live music. The setting is inspired by old Havana, having a cool vibe that feels approachable to everyone, prizing great cocktails and traditional dishes.

The dining experience

La Trova, located in Little Havana, was founded in 2019 by the Cuban-born bartender Julio Cabrera and the James Beard award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein. Little Havana is one of the most culturally relevant locations in the city, containing much of the history and color that makes Miami feel so unique, with residents playing domino games, salsa dancing, and more.

Since its opening, Cafe La Trova has earned its stripes, having thousands of followers on social media, positive reviews from culinary outlets, and more. In 2025, the restaurant made the shortlist as one of the world's 50 best bars.

Some of the dishes and drinks that are most popular include the Mojito Criollo, made with rum, lime juice, sugar, mint, soda water, and Angostura bitters, and traditional dishes like Cuban empanadas, ceviches, and Spanish prawns al ajillo, a dish that Cubans inherited from their Spanish ancestors.

The bond between the Bezos and the restaurant

The couple was first spotted in Cafe La Trava in 2022, with onlookers reporting that they had a great time in the space. “They were both all smiles and were very gracious when interacting with restaurant staff,” said another guest to Miami.com.

“They ate, drank and seemed to really enjoy the live music and ambiance. No one approached their table to bother them; most people probably didn’t even realize they were there, which was great.”

Bezos shares a close bond with Cuba, with his stepfather being a Cuban immigrant. "He came from Santiago, Cuba. He was 16. He spoke no English, he had to make his way. He had those tough experiences. I think in every immigrant you'll find a deep optimism and a deep resilience too," he said in 2022, while speaking at the Statue of Liberty Island Awards. "My dad is an intense hard worker. My dad is warm, and he teaches an easy smile."

It makes sense then that Bezos and his wife have made Cafe La Trova into one of the places they frequent regularly.
