There is something inspiring about watching women turn creativity into opportunity. Across the country, more Latinas are starting their own businesses, building brands from scratch, and finding ways to share their talent with the world on their own terms.
For many people, it starts as a side hustle, a passion project, or simply a dream of creating a more flexible and fulfilling life. Thanks to e-commerce platforms like Etsy, among others, dreams can become reality and grow into successful businesses and loyal communities.
That’s part of why shopping in small businesses feels so personal and meaningful. Behind every handmade piece is a real person dedicating time, love, and intention into what they create. Supporting these entrepreneurs means supporting families, stories and creative independence. And if you’ve ever thought about starting something of your own, these women may just inspire you to take that leap too.
Every month, ¡HOLA! shines a spotlight on small businesses that deserve a closer look, unique brands doing beautiful work. This month, we explored Etsy and found two Latina-owned jewelry shops making pieces full of personality.
Prismatic Suncatchers by Soledad
The first thing you notice about Soledad Proaño’s work is the light. Her handmade prism suncatchers scatter rainbows on walls and ceilings, instantly making a room feel warmer and more magical. Alongside her jewelry collections, the Chilean-born artist creates pieces that feel calming and modern.
“My pieces are a reminder to appreciate the magic that appears at any given instant”
Now based in Queens, New York, Proaño’s story is woven into everything she creates. She describes herself as “a beautiful mix,” shaped by migration, multiple cultures, languages, and identities. As a teenager in Chile, she spent summers hitchhiking across the country selling handmade jewelry and leather goods she made herself. Those experiences, along with the landscapes she encountered along the way, still inspire her designs today.
Her work balances the vitality of New York City with a craving for nature and calm moments. Each piece is handmade one at a time in her Queens studio using recycled sterling silver, brass, 14k gold fill, and repurposed leather. The aesthetic is clean and organic with subtle textures and thoughtful details that make every item feel special without trying too hard.
Whether it’s a pair of sculptural earrings or a hanging prism to capture the afternoon sun, her creations encourage people to slow down, look around, and appreciate beauty in everyday life.
Analy Jewelry by Perla and Griselda
For Perla and Griselda, the mother-and-daughter team behind Analy Jewelry, creating jewelry has become a way to celebrate family, creativity, and connection all at once.
Their Etsy shop launched in 2018 with a simple dream. They wanted to build a small business that would allow them to spend more time together while focusing on the things that matter most. The name “Analy Jewelry” holds sentimental meaning too, chosen years ago by Perla’s mother as her second name.
“Our Mexican heritage inspires us to celebrate color, movement, and life in everything we design”
Today, the duo creates colorful handmade earrings and accessories inspired by their Mexican heritage and love of bold artistic expression. Their pieces are playful, vibrant, and full of personality. Every design combines both of their creative styles, resulting in statement jewelry that feels joyful and expressive. They range from intricate beadwork to eye-catching colour combinations; each piece is made with the intention of becoming more than just any ordinary accessory. It’s meant to feel like a tiny wearable work of art.
What makes their story special is their gratitude for the people who support handmade businesses. They openly share how much every order impacts their family and how deeply they appreciate customers who choose to shop small.
If you are looking to add something unique to your jewelry collection, support Latina entrepreneurs, or simply discover creators doing beautiful work, these Etsy shops are certainly worth exploring.
