It’s been just over a month since soccer took over the global spotlight, drawing in everyone from die-hard fans to casual viewers who only tune in for the biggest games. Millions of Spaniards rallied behind their team with one dream in mind, winning the World Cup again and finally earning that long-awaited second star.

The highly anticipated final match between Spain and Argentina lived up to the hype. The action-packed match delivered plenty of drama and surprises, along with an iconic halftime show, the first in the tournament’s history, headlined by Colombian superstar Shakira.

A performance with a powerful message

The “Dai Dai” singer, who performs the tournament’s official song alongside Burna Boy, took the stage with dancers from around the world. Each represented their home country while bringing the show’s central message of peace, love, and unity to life.

For such a major occasion, Shakira once again made fashion a key part of the performance. She wore a showstopping custom look by Roberto Cavalli, designed by the Italian fashion house’s creative director, Fausto Puglisi.

A Bold and Colorful Look Designed for Her Energy

Inspired by the colors of a sunset and the vibrant facades of Mexico City’s Condesa neighborhood, the look blended orange, yellow, and hot pink in a combination that was impossible to miss.

The design reimagined a silhouette from Roberto Cavalli’s Resort 2025 collection. The dress had a plunging lace-up crossover neckline, side cutouts, and a skirt made from long strips of fabric that flowed dramatically as she moved.

The special detail that stood out to all was the more than 200,000 Swarovski crystals, which were applied by hand over approximately 120 hours. The painstaking craftsmanship made the already striking design even more memorable.

While the look appeared to be a dress, it was actually a custom two-piece set. The bodysuit was paired with a draped skirt created using the moulage technique, with embroidered satin chiffon and fringe detailing.

The entire outfit featured the Ray of Sunset print, which was created specifically for Shakira and inspired by the fashion house’s iconic Ray of Gold motif.

The personal tribute behind the Roberto Cavalli look

The design also included a meaningful nod to Shakira’s World Cup history. Its bold colors and flowing silhouette recalled the Roberto Cavalli outfit she wore while performing “Waka Waka” at the closing ceremony of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Sixteen years later, the Colombian superstar brought that same energy back to the World Cup stage, this time with a more polished, radiant, and theatrical twist. And given Spain’s victory, the look may have earned a place among the team’s unofficial good-luck charms.

Staying true to her signature style

For her beauty look, Shakira stuck with the relaxed, natural glamour she’s known for. She wore her hair down in loose, defined waves with plenty of volume and a slightly tousled finish.

Her makeup featured glowing, lightly bronzed skin, pink eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and full lashes. She completed the look with a glossy pink lip that gave the glamorous beauty moment a fresh finish.
