After five years without a new album, Adele is reportedly preparing fresh music inspired by her London roots, the pressures of fame, and a new chapter in her personal life. But could a surprise release be closer than anyone expected?

Adele may be getting ready to give fans the comeback they have been waiting for. The 38-year-old British superstar is at the center of fresh speculation about a secret fifth album, with reports suggesting her next musical chapter could explore everything from the emotional cost of fame to her childhood in London.

According to recent reports, the singer has been quietly developing new material, potentially reuniting with longtime collaborators and considering a different musical direction.

The biggest question is whether Adele could surprise everyone with an unexpected album release before the end of 2026.

While the possibility has generated excitement, Adele has not officially announced a new album, confirmed a release date, or revealed a tracklist. Her management has also denied reports that she has been recording with producer Paul Epworth. Still, the latest claims offer an intriguing glimpse at what her next era might look like.

Is Adele Releasing a New Album in 2026?

Adele's rumored fifth studio album has become one of the year's most closely watched potential releases. The singer last released an album in November 2021, when 30 delivered deeply personal songs about divorce, motherhood, healing, and emotional growth. Five years later, reports suggest she may be considering another major creative transformation.

According to The Scottish Sun, Adele has reportedly been working on material that reflects her relationship with fame, personal insecurities, romantic happiness, and her connection to London. The publication also reported that the project could arrive next summer, potentially under the title 39, although neither the name nor the timing has been confirmed.

Other speculation has raised the possibility of a surprise release as early as November 2026.

Adele's New Music Could Explore Fame and Her London Roots

One of the most interesting details surrounding Adele's rumored new album is its reported focus on her relationship with fame. Despite becoming one of the world's most recognizable singers, Adele has frequently spoken about her preference for privacy and a relatively normal family life.

Her next record could examine how international success has affected her identity, relationships and sense of belonging. There is also speculation that she wants to reconnect with the city that helped shape her career.

Born in Tottenham, North London, Adele established her musical identity through emotionally direct songwriting and a voice that could turn ordinary experiences into unforgettable songs. Her early track "Hometown Glory" was a tribute to London, making the possibility of returning to those influences particularly meaningful.

Reports earlier this year suggested she had traveled back to London to write and record at Church Studios in Crouch End, a location associated with her previous work.

Why Adele Took a Break From Music After Her Las Vegas Residency

Adele has never hidden her desire to step away from the demands of performing. Following her hugely successful Las Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele, which concluded in November 2024, the singer made it clear that she wanted time to pursue other interests.

During a 2024 interview with German broadcaster ZDF, she said she had no immediate plans for new music and wanted an extended break after her performances. Her decision followed an intense period that included her Las Vegas shows and a special summer residency in Munich.

The singer has also expressed reservations about traditional touring, partly because of the disruption it can create for family life. Her son Angelo, whom she shares with former husband Simon Konecki, has remained a major priority. Adele's extended absence from releasing music is therefore consistent with her stated intention to focus on life beyond the recording studio.

That is also why the latest comeback speculation has attracted so much attention.

Adele Is Also Preparing for a Major Hollywood Debut

Music is not the only creative project associated with Adele's next chapter. The singer is preparing to make her feature-film acting debut in Cry to Heaven, directed by fashion designer and filmmaker Tom Ford.

The film, adapted from Anne Rice's novel, is set in the world of 18th-century Italian opera. Its ensemble cast includes Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Julianne Moore.

According to The Times, filming has been completed, with the movie expected in 2027. The acting role adds another dimension to Adele's career and suggests that her creative interests are expanding beyond music.
