It's official! Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, marking a major career milestone for the hip-hop icon who has spent years helping select the artists for the NFL's biggest musical event.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation confirmed the announcement on Monday, October 26, revealing that the 25-time Grammy Award winner will take center stage at Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

After years of shaping the Super Bowl halftime show behind the scenes, Jay-Z is finally stepping into the spotlight. But who could join the rap legend on football's biggest night?

The announcement was made during the Dallas Cowboys versus Philadelphia Eagles Monday Night Football game, ending months of speculation about who would headline the highly anticipated performance.

And while Jay-Z's appearance is now confirmed, one question is already attracting attention: Could Beyoncé, Rihanna, or Alicia Keys make a surprise appearance?

Jay-Z's Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show Is Official

For Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, the upcoming performance represents a full-circle moment. Since 2019, his entertainment company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the NFL to help shape its entertainment programming and produce the Super Bowl halftime show.

Now, after years of helping other artists command the spotlight, the Brooklyn-born rapper is preparing to headline the event himself.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Jay-Z reflected on his journey from his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, to the upcoming Super Bowl performance. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage," he said, describing the opportunity as a dream come true.

The announcement is particularly significant because Jay-Z has never previously performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, despite his longstanding involvement with the production.

His company will also executive produce the 2027 performance, with veteran television director Hamish Hamilton returning to direct.

Will Beyoncé Perform With Jay-Z at Super Bowl 2027?

One of the biggest questions surrounding Jay-Z's Super Bowl halftime show is whether his wife, Beyoncé, will join him onstage. Although no special guests have been officially announced, Beyoncé is an obvious possibility. The couple has collaborated on several major hits, including "Crazy in Love," "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," and "Drunk in Love."

Their musical chemistry, combined with their history of stadium performances, could make a joint Super Bowl appearance one of the most memorable moments of the night.

Beyoncé is certainly no stranger to the halftime stage. She headlined the Super Bowl in 2013 and returned in 2016 as a special guest during Coldplay's performance alongside Bruno Mars. However, Beyoncé's participation remains speculation, not a confirmed booking.

Could Rihanna, Alicia Keys or Blue Ivy Carter Appear?

Beyoncé isn't the only artist fans may be hoping to see. Jay-Z's extensive career has produced collaborations with some of the biggest names in music, making the possibilities for surprise guests particularly interesting.

In December 2004, 16-year-old Rihanna recorded the dance-pop, Caribbean infused jam "Pon de Replay" and sent the song off to several record labels. The demo then became her debut song as an artist after reaching the president of Def Jam, Jay Z.

Rihanna would be a strong contender, given their history together on songs including "Umbrella" and "Run This Town." She also has her own Super Bowl experience, having headlined the 2023 halftime show.

Alicia Keys could join Jay-Z for "Empire State of Mind," one of the most recognizable collaborations of his career.

There's also the possibility of a family moment featuring Blue Ivy Carter. Blue Ivy recently joined her father during his 2026 concert performances, adding another intriguing possibility to the halftime show conversation.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg could also be considered, especially after appearing at Jay-Z's recent SoFi Stadium concerts.
