Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has a soft spot for royal babies, and he isn’t shy about showing it. This past weekend, Princess Beatrice’s 42-year-old husband hit the like button on a sweet new family photo from a fellow royal dad, a small gesture from one girl dad to another.

The post came from Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei, who shared a tender snapshot with his more than three million followers on his Instagram account. In it, his baby daughter, Zahra, sits on his lap, showing off her full head of long hair as she faces a fan and clutches a pink star-shaped toy.

Mateen and his wife, Princess Anisha, welcomed Zahra in February. He looked every inch the doting father as he held her close.

Edo liked the post from his personal account.

A friendship that plays out on Instagram

Edo and Prince Mateen have a fair amount in common, and this isn’t the first time they’ve traded exchanges on social media. Edo congratulated the couple when Zahra was born, and when the new parents shared their first family photo as a trio, he wrote: “Congratulations, Mateen and Anisha. Zahra."

In March, he dropped a red heart emoji under another photo of the baby.

Their paths may have crossed in person, too. Beatrice, Edo and Prince Mateen all attended Jordan’s royal wedding in 2023, so it's possible for the two men to have met there and developed a friendship that's maintained through social media.

All about little Zahra

Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha welcomed their first child on February 8, less than a month after their second wedding anniversary. The couple married in January 2024 in a lavish 10-day celebration at Istana Nurul Iman, the sultan’s official residence in Brunei.

Since Zahra’s arrival, the couple has shared a handful of heartwarming glimpses into their family life, many of them featuring their daughter’s adorable mop of dark hair. In June, mother and daughter twinned for a special photo marking Zahra’s four-month milestone: Anisha wore Hill House’s Ellie Nap dress in a pink floral print, while Zahra wore a mini version of the same design, complete with tiny ruffles.

Their followers are smitten, dropping sweet comments under the posts praising Zahra and her bond with her father.

Beatrice and Edo’s growing brood

Beatrice, a granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, married Edo in Windsor in 2020.

The couple has two daughters: Sienna, born in 2021, and Athena, who was born in 2025. Beatrice is also stepmother to Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie, Edo’s son from his previous relationship with Dara Huang.

The family’s baby girl streak continues. Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, welcomed a daughter earlier this year. Adelaide is Eugenie’s third child with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
