A stylish surprise is headed to Hollywood’s biggest night. The 2026 Oscars telecast is reportedly planning a memorable “Devil Wears Prada” reunion, bringing together Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt on stage nearly two decades after the beloved fashion film premiered.

Sources indicate that the reunion will take place during the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15, adding a dose of high-fashion nostalgia to the ceremony, according to People. Hathaway has already been confirmed as a presenter, and the special appearance is expected to nod to the upcoming sequel, “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which arrives in theaters on May 1, 2026.

The original film became a cultural staple in 2006, introducing audiences to the icy authority of Miranda Priestly, the determined ambition of Andy Sachs, and the unforgettable sarcasm of Emily Charlton. With the sequel on the horizon, the Oscars moment is shaping up to be a perfect runway-style teaser for fans eager to revisit the fashion world of Runway magazine.

The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Reunion Teases the Sequel Era

The upcoming “Devil Wears Prada 2” reunites several key cast members from the original film. Streep returns as the formidable Miranda Priestly, while Hathaway reprises her role as Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt returns as Emily Charlton, Miranda’s famously sharp assistant who quickly became a fan favorite.

Also returning is Stanley Tucci, whose character Nigel provided the fashion expertise and emotional backbone of the first film. As a fun fact, did you know the role was originally proposed to John Leguizamo? Find out here what happened.

The sequel expands the cast with several high-profile additions, including Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, and Conrad Ricamora.

Two original supporting actors, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman, will also reprise their roles.

The film is directed once again by David Frankel, who helmed the original movie, with Aline Brosh McKenna returning as the writer. That creative reunion has raised expectations among fans who still quote lines from the original movie nearly twenty years later.

What 'Devil Wears Prada 2' Is About

The sequel explores how the fashion world has changed in the digital era. In the story, Andy Sachs returns to Runway magazine just as the publication struggles to adapt to a rapidly shifting media landscape. Print publications face mounting pressure from digital platforms, influencers, and luxury brand partnerships.

Meanwhile, Emily Charlton has reinvented herself as the head of a powerful luxury brand, holding financial resources that could help secure Runway’s future. This sets the stage for a new power dynamic between Miranda, Andy, and Emily as they navigate evolving media, corporate partnerships, and the influence of high-end fashion in a digital-first world.

The storyline reflects a real shift in the fashion industry, where editorial publications increasingly rely on partnerships with brands and digital audiences to stay relevant.
