The teaser was shared on Gunn's Instagram and is a moving poster that shows David Corenswet as Superman.

The image shows Corenswet in Superman's iconic costume, very reminiscent of the look that was featured in the original "Superman" film, which was simpler and brighter than the most recent interpretations of the character.

The teaser was also set to a slowed-down version of the official "Superman" song composed by John Williams, suggesting that the new film will likely be a throwback to the original version of the character, filled with positivity and hope.

Last year, it was announced that David Corenswet would be leading the film, playing the role of Clark Kent/Superman.

Two of the most iconic characters in "Superman" comics will also be featured, including Lois Lane, played by Rachel Brosnahan, and Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult.

While plot details have been kept under wraps, "Superman" is expected to establish the new universe of DC films. Various superheroes that may become important and develop their own films later on will likely be introduced in this project, including Supergirl and Hawk Girl, played by Milly Alcock and Isabela Merced, respectively.

Both actresses have been involved with various notorious projects in recent years, with Alcock starring in the first season of "House of the Dragon," and Merced starring in "Alien: Romulus," and the incoming season of "The Last of Us."

Gunn described the film as 'fun' but also 'serious'

In an interview with Gizmodo, Gunn revealed that while the project will have his signature humor, showcased in his films "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Suicide Squad," it's more grounded and serious. “I start with a place that’s very hopeful, fun… but incredibly grounded [and] incredibly serious all at the same time,” he said.

“It’s humorous, but it certainly is not as [comedic] as either Suicide Squad or Guardians. There’s plenty of humor in it. People like Rachel are so funny and David is very [funny as well], so there’s humor in it, but it’s trying to create something that is grounded, but also it’s an incredibly fanciful world. It’s fantasy, it’s taking from other things like Game of Thrones where it’s this universe where superheroes actually exist. What are they like? There’s a magic there that’s undeniable.”

It features a cameo from Christopher Reeve's son

Will Reeve, one of Christopher Reeve's three kids, has a brief cameo in "Superman."  "I promise you it's not big," he said to Variety on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. "But it was a lot of fun. Blink and you'll miss it but it was a great time."

"It's an honor. I think it's a nice full-circle moment. It's great for the fans who've loved Superman for so many decades and now as DC reboots the Superman franchise... I'm honored to be a part of it. I'm really excited to see what happens."

The trailer is coming out this week

If you can't wait for more Superman, we have good news! The first teaser trailer is coming out this Thursday, showing a definitive look at the character and the world that James Gunn is creating.
