Ricky Martin is blonde now. The beloved singer and actor had his Venice Film Festival debut, premiering his new film, "Hombre al Agua." To celebrate the occasion, he debuted a new hairstyle, showcasing a blonde buzz cut and matching beard.
Martin took photos on the red carpet, wearing a gorgeous black-and-white suit that he complemented with some jewelry. He posed solo and alongside his co-stars, Manuel Garcia Rulfo and Gael Garcia Bernal. The latter also directed, produced, and co-wrote the film.
The film follows a Cuban lifeguard named Camilo, played by Bernal, who rescues a powerful Mexican businessman from drowning in the ocean. It leads to a job, resulting in Camilo moving to Mexico and marrying his eldest daughter.
Martin will be playing the role of Roby. In a statement, Bernal revealed that Martin was his first choice to play the role. “Ricky was one of those wonderful accidents," he said to Deadline. "He was the first person I imagined for the role, but it seemed like such a crazy, almost impossible idea that I kept his name to myself for most of the development process."
“The part only required one day of shooting, so we kept saying, 'We’ll find someone.' Then, shortly before we started shooting, I managed to get his number and called him. Before I had even really explained the project, he said, ‘Whatever you want.'"
“Ricky came in with an enormous generosity, completely embraced the spirit of the film, understood the humor of the character, and became one of the film’s strongest supporters. His involvement as an executive producer grew very naturally out of that enthusiasm.”
Martin's career as an actor
Martin has long been involved in acting, starring in numerous Hollywood productions, including the TV show "Palm Royale." He received acclaim following his 2018 performance in "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story."
