Kaia Gerber says she 'wishes' she looked like mom Cindy Crawford

Kaia Gerber has nothing but admiration for her mother, Cindy Crawford. Over the past weeks, the young model and actress has been promoting her new TV show, "The Shards." Through the press run, her similarity to her mom has been noted by numerous outlets. Surprisingly, she doesn't see it.

“It’s an honor when people tell me I look like my mom. I wish I did," she said in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. "I think, even on my best days, I’m not even close. But like, it means so much to me." 

Gerber has nothing but admiration for her mother, whether she's talking about her looks or her mind. “I think she’s just the most beautiful woman inside and out," she said. "And so if there’s any way that I remind anyone of her, it’s just, like, the largest compliment.”

Her comment inspired many comments online, with people reinforcing just how similar they view Gerber and Crawford. “Mind you they’re literally twins," reads one of the comments.

“She looks so much like her mom! when I first saw her on AHS I was thinking wow that girl looks just like Cindy Crawford! both very beautiful women," wrote another person, referencing Gerber's role in the TV show "American Horror Story." 

Gerber's special connection to her co-star Homer Gere

Gerber's role in "The Shards" is personal. The series is developed by Ryan Murphy, one of Gerber's most consistent collaborators, with him including her in projects like "American Horror Story" and "American Horror Stories." Still, this marks her largest collaboration with him yet, as she plays one of the main characters in the series. 

She stars opposite Homer Gere, the son of Richard Gere. Not only are the two the kids of some '90s and '80s icons; their parents were also married for a couple of years, becoming one of the most prominent couples in the era. 

Gerber described the strange connection with Gere as "funny." She then pivoted, praising Homer as her scene partner. “It was so lovely to work with him. He’s so wonderful. He’s so funny. He makes me laugh so hard... We’ve gotten so close over this process," she said to E! News.

Gere also shared his take on first meeting Gerber. "The odds are funny. We had never met before shooting. We met two weeks before at a bar, with all the cast," said Homer to USA Today. "Immediately, I think me or her were like... 'Should we address the elephant in the room?'"
