Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere are promoting one of the biggest TV shows of the summer. The two are starring in Ryan Murphy's "The Shards," a series following a group of wealthy high school students in '80s Los Angeles.
© Getty ImagesIn new interviews, Kaia and Homer discussed their parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, and whether they provided them with some '80s fashion advice.
"I remember calling my mom, going 'There's no way you were doing your hair like this for high school.' And she goes 'Oh no, no, no. I was,'" said Kaia to Entertainment Tonight.
"She was like 'I'd wake up at 4AM, set my hair, cause you had to have your hair done like that.' And that was hard to fathom for me. That was my biggest question like, 'Is this realistic?' And she was like 'Yeah.'"
"She showed me photos and she had that exact hair when she was 17."
In the case of Homer, Richard Gere had a different attitude. When asked if his dad gave him any advice, he laughed. "No. He hasn't seen it."
"Sometimes I see old pictures of him; I'll find a photo album or something and see a photo of him in a suit from the '80s and I'll kind of file it in my mind palace," he said, prompting a laugh from his co-stars.
"I think all I really needed was the leather pants, honestly. That's what got me into the '80s vibe."
Kaia and Homer's interesting family history

In the case of Kaia, she's been famous for years due to her modeling work and close bond with her mother, but has fully dived into acting, with her role in "The Shards" marking her biggest and most exciting role yet.
Homer has had a big year as an actor, starring in the last season of "Euphoria" and now playing "The Shards" complicated villain figure. The two play characters involved in a complicated romantic dynamic. Interestingly enough, their parents, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere, were married during the '90s.
Crawford and Gere had one of the era's most notorious relationships and were together for around eight years, having many famous red carpet appearances.
When asked about their parents' history, Kaia said that it was "funny." She then pivoted, praising Homer's work as an actor and scene partner. “It was so lovely to work with him. He’s so wonderful. He’s so funny. He makes me laugh so hard... We’ve gotten so close over this process," she said to E! News.
