Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may be days away from saying "I do," but a new report suggests their love story didn't begin as a whirlwind romance.
While the couple is now preparing for their highly anticipated wedding, insiders claim the Kansas City Chiefs star wasn't initially looking for a serious relationship when he first connected with the pop superstar.
It All Started With a Friendship Bracelet
Kelce famously made the first move during Swift's Eras Tour stop in Kansas City in July 2023.
The NFL star later revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had hoped to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number attached. However, the meeting never happened because the singer doesn't typically greet visitors before or after her performances.
"She doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," Kelce explained at the time. "I took it personal."
Just a few months later, reports surfaced that the pair had quietly begun spending time together behind the scenes.
Report Claims Kelce Wasn't Looking for Anything Serious
According to the Daily Mail, several sources alleged that Kelce wasn't focused on finding a committed relationship during the early months of getting to know Swift.
One insider claimed the football star "wasn't looking for anything serious" and was reportedly seeing other people before the couple officially debuted their romance.
Another source echoed those claims, alleging Kelce was "definitely still dating around" in the beginning.
One insider also suggested the friendship bracelet stunt was never meant to become anything significant, claiming Kelce viewed it as more of a joke than a genuine attempt to start a relationship.
Their Relationship Reportedly Took Time to Develop
The report also alleges Kelce wasn't always quick to respond to Swift's messages during the early stages of their romance.
One source claimed that wasn't because he was intentionally ignoring her, but because he wasn't actively pursuing a serious relationship at the time.
Another insider reportedly said that becoming involved with Swift naturally brings a level of commitment and public attention that Kelce wasn't initially expecting.
According to the outlet's sources, the couple didn't become exclusive until September 2023.
Representatives for Swift and Kelce have not publicly commented on the claims.
Wedding Preparations Are Underway
Despite reports that their relationship had a casual beginning, Swift and Kelce have since become one of entertainment's most talked-about couples.
The pair got engaged in August 2025 after two years of dating and are reportedly preparing to tie the knot over the Fourth of July weekend.
According to previous reports, a rehearsal dinner is planned for July 2, followed by a larger celebration the next day with hundreds, and possibly thousands, of guests.
Celebrity wedding planner Mark Seed is reportedly overseeing the festivities after working with the couple for several months.
A Star-Studded Guest List
The couple's wedding plans have evolved over time. Earlier reports suggested they intended to marry at Swift's Rhode Island estate in Watch Hill before ultimately choosing a larger venue to accommodate more guests.
Several A-list celebrities are reportedly expected to attend, including Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Zoë Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, the Haim sisters and Gigi Hadid.
According to reports, Swift personally invited many guests over the phone, while attendees have allegedly been asked to sign strict non-disclosure agreements to keep details of the celebration private.
