Brooke Shields and her daughter Rowan Henchy make everyone do a double-take after they were spotted in New York City in coordinated black dresses. The duo’s appearance also highlighted just how much Rowan, 22, resembles her famous mother in features and presence.
Rowan opted for a sleeveless, ankle-length black dress with a fashion-forward edge. The piece featured a peplum trim and was detailed with silver studs, giving it a slightly rebellious, downtown feel. She finished the look with a gold bracelet and matching watch, paired with glossy patent leather heels that added polish without losing attitude.
Shields, now 60, took a more understated but equally impactful approach. Her sleeveless leather shift dress was sleek and structured, complemented by soft suede mules.
A Star Who Still Speaks Her Mind
Shields has spent decades in the spotlight, and many might know her as a Calvin Klein spokesmodel, her work as an actress and author, or her viral Meghan Markle moment after their shared panel at SXSW in 2024. The discussion, moderated by journalist Katie Couric, featured them talking about their advocacy work.
Then, during an episode of India Hicks’s podcast, Shields described Markle’s storytelling approach as overly delicate. “Katie asks the first question to Meghan, and she talks about how at a young age, she was already advocating for women,” Shields said. “She starts telling a story about how when she was 11—and she keeps saying, ‘Well, when I was 11, I saw this commercial and they were talking about how washing dishes was for women.’”
Shields continued, recounting Markle’s anecdote: “‘I didn’t think only women wash dishes. It wasn’t fair. So I wrote to the company.’”
Shields said that Markle’s tone might not resonate with the audience. “I was like, they’re not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious,” she said, adding that she “was trying not to be rude.” Brooke said she considered the anecdote “too precious.”
Shields continues to be direct, observant, and unafraid to challenge tone or pacing in public conversations. That same authenticity seems to carry into her role as a mother.
In 2025, she shared on TODAY with Jenna & Friends that she’s “getting to know” her daughters Rowan and Grier, 18, as young adults. “I was like, ‘For your whole life, I’ve told you what to do, what to eat, when to eat, when not to eat, clothing, who’re your friends,'” Shields explained. “‘Now I’m meeting you, so you have got to give me a bit of a grace period so that I can get to know you as this young adult.'”
