Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth share the perks of living in Australia

Pataky has shared the perks of living in Byron Bay when compared to other cities

Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth are some of the most notorious residents of Byron Bay, Australia. The pair live in the beachside town alongside their children, India Rose, and twins Sasha and Tristan, and are often photographed by paparazzi doing all sorts of things, from surfing, to riding motorcycles and horses, to stopping by their local ice cream shop barefoot for some treats.

Pataky and Hemsworth are known for their active lifestyles, often sharing that they raised their kids to play sports and spend time in nature

In a new interview, Pataky revealed that Byron Bay's access to nature is one of the reasons why they decided to make the place their home.

“Living in Madrid is complicated when you’ve already lived in the countryside, in the middle of nature, it’s hard,” said Pataky to NewsCorp Australia.

She also revealed that Los Angeles was a challenging place for their family, considering it's a town that revolves around the entertainment industry. “When you’re in Los Angeles, work suffocates you,” she continued.

“There, all the conversations, even the billboards you see on the street, have to do with the world of cinema and its industry."

Despite the fact that the Hemsworth-Patakys live in Byron Bay and spend some of their time in Los Angeles for work, they also make time for Pataky's native home of Spain. “It brings me joy, the kids love it, the ham,” she said.

The two have shared that they've bonded over some of the activities they like pursuing, like surfing, riding motorcycles, and more

For his part, Chris Hemsworth is incredibly fond of Australia, the country where he was born and raised. Following his relocation from Los Angeles to Byron Bay, Hemsworth was involved in a campaign encouraging travel to his country.

“Growing up in Australia, you can sometimes take it all for granted,” he said, as reported by the magazine Explore Travel Australia.

"But after being away for 10 years and coming back, exploring some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen has reminded me how unique and impressive Australia is. And how lucky we are."

Pataky and Hemsworth moved to Australia in 2014, after living in Los Angeles for their careers
