Lisa Kudrow is still thinking about her close friend Matthew Perry. The pair starred in "Friends" and maintained a friendship that lasted years, until his death in October 2023. In a new interview, Kudrow revealed that she found a hidden note that Perry had given her in a present.
© @jenniferanistonKudrow was recently featured on "The Drew Barrymore Show," where she discussed her time making "Friends." When asked if she'd ever stolen anything from set, Kudrow revealed that she had. "Yes, but I’m too afraid to tell you what. I’m too, I can’t say. I’m afraid. Someone will come take it away, take it away from me," she said.
"I don’t know why," joked Barrymore. "I just got that it was the Cookie Time jar," she said, referencing one of the show's most iconic props.
© GettyImages“No, Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,” said Kudrow. She revealed that he'd stuffed a note inside that she'd never seen.
“I had recently found the note that he had in it for me," she continued. "I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it, but yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.”
Kudrow didn't reveal the contents of the note but shared a story that painted a picture of her friendly dynamic with Perry. This dynamic that Perry had with all of his "Friends" cast mates is something that came to define the series and is one of the reasons why the cast stayed in touch for decades to come.
Kudrow and Perry's sweet bond
Following Perry's death in 2023, Kudrow and her castmates grieved the loss of their friend, with all of them sharing some of their favorite memories with Perry. They all agreed that Perry was a hilarious person and a unique friend.
"Shot the pilot, Friends Like Us, got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then…You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that," wrote Kudrow in an Instagram post shared in 2023, showing an old polaroid of her and Perry.
"Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant," she wrote, referencing Perry's long-life addiction problem.
"Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you.Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew."
