Ten years ago, before he was a husband or a father, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan launched the project that has come to define his public life. This week he marked that milestone with his closest partner in private and, increasingly, on the global stage.
On Monday, October 12, Princess Rajwa joined her husband, the eldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, at the ceremony celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Crown Prince Foundation in Amman. Hussein attended in his role as regent, according to a Royal Hashemite Court statement reported by The Jordan Times.
Rajwa looked polished and quietly glamorous in a navy ribbed-knit midi dress by the British label Self-Portrait. She accompanied it with a metallic Bottega Veneta Knot clutch and Malone Souliers Maureen heels.
A foundation built for Jordan’s next generation
Hussein created the foundation in 2015 with one core mission: to help young Jordanians develop their talents and take a leading role in shaping their country’s future. The foundation's mission centers on four key areas: education and training, employment and entrepreneurship, innovation and technology, and leadership and civic participation.
The numbers from its first decade are striking. According to the foundation itself, its programs have reached 2.2 million young people. It operates more than 26 facilities across the kingdom, and it has launched more than 14 programs. Among its standout initiatives are the Al Hussein Technical University, coding schools and a national volunteering platform.
Inside the anniversary celebration
The evening featured speeches from Adey Salamin, chairman of the Crown Prince Foundation, and Basem Salfiti, chairman of Al Hussein Technical University. Both looked back on what the foundation and the university have accomplished since their founding while laying out their plans for the coming years, as reported by the Royal Court.
A video presentation gave the spotlight to the people the foundation was built for. Program participants reflected on their experiences, describing how the programs sharpened their skills, broadened their career prospects, and made a positive difference in their communities.
The crown prince also honored a number of the foundation’s partners and supporters, recognizing their role in sustaining its programs and backing its work. Special recognition went to the sponsors of the university’s endowment fund.
A partnership in full display
For Hussein, the heir to the Jordanian throne, the foundation remains his signature project, and Rajwa’s presence at such a significant moment sends a clear message. The couple, who make for a seamless team in their private life, are just as united when it comes to their official duties.
The past decade has transformed Hussein’s personal life, too. When the foundation bearing his name launched in 2015, he was 21. Today, at 32, he has not only cemented his institutional role but built a family of his own.
He and Rajwa married on June 1, 2023, and welcomed their daughter, Princess Iman, in August 2024.
