Each outing confirms an evolution that has made her a genuine fashion reference for her generation — a natural, increasingly polished way of dressing that continues to mature. 

With eyes turning back to Mallorca for the summer of 2026, it's worth remembering that it was on the island, one year earlier, that she locked in that signature image through three looks built around three dresses, all from Spanish labels. It amounted to a quiet style revolution — her way of standing apart from the rest of the family — and it's worth revisiting those 2025 choices in detail.

Sobriety, on her own terms

On the afternoon of July 31, 2025, Queen Letizia made a surprise appearance with her daughters at Palma's Rívoli Aficine cinema for a screening of "En un lugar de la mente," a documentary written by José Corbacho and Catalina Solivellas.

For the occasion, Infanta Sofía skipped the bold colors she'd later favor and went in the opposite direction. The youngest royal dressed head-to-toe in black, steering clear of the prints, textures, and color that defined her mother's and sister's looks that day. She paired flat black sandals with strappy detailing alongside a debut piece: a cinch-waisted, round-neck dress with an open back and a midi hem finished in cutwork lace, from Mango ($26). She skipped a handbag altogether.

A bold debut in pink tie-dye

The same quiet revolution played out at the Marivent Palace at 9 p.m. on Monday, August 4. That evening marked Infanta Sofía's first appearance, alongside Princess Leonor, at the reception for Balearic Islands authorities and representatives of local society.

What stood out most was how she broke from the family's usual palette, opting for a visually bolder color story. She debuted a dress in vivid shades of pink rendered through a transgressive, of-the-moment tie-dye finish.

The satin design — boat neck, sleeveless, midi length — came from Zara and had sold out by the time of writing, though it had previously been marked down substantially, from $45 to $6. The dress resurfaced in 2026 at a gala dinner at El Cano. To complete the 2025 look, Sofia reached for her Saura sandals by Macarena, priced at $82.

Setting herself apart at the Joan Miró exhibition

As evening fell on August 5, the King and Queen of Spain and their daughters made a private visit to the Paysage Miró exhibition in Palma — the city where the artist lived and worked for decades. For the visit, Infanta Sofía distinguished herself through careful details that set her apart from her mother's and sister's choices.

Two specifics made the difference, beyond her habit of skipping jewelry — a signature move she breaks only occasionally, such as when she brings out Queen Letizia's Karen Hallam ring.

At this cultural event in Palma de Mallorca, Infanta Sofía chose not to wear her hair down like her mother and Princess Leonor did. She opted to pull it back with thin braids while also wearing sandals instead of espadrilles.

She borrowed a pair from her older sister's closet: the brown Guantino model, priced at $110, by the footwear label Eli 1957. To round out the look, the youngest infanta brought back the printed Arles dress by Babbaki, which she had worn a year earlier. She debuted a handcrafted crochet crossbody bag from Deco Etxe.
