Cruise shows give fashion's biggest houses the perfect opportunity to take their collections somewhere amazing. Chanel chose wisely; for this year, the fashion house selected Biarritz, on the French Basque coast, where creative director Matthieu Blazy hosted the Cruise 2027 show.
Chanel's relationship with Biarritz dates back to 1915, when Gabrielle Chanel opened a boutique there during World War I, at a time when the city served as a refuge for aristocrats and exiles. Now, over a century later, international stars like Nicole Kidman,Tilda Swinton, and Marion Cotillard gathered there alongside long-standing friends of the house, among them, Charlotte Casiraghi, who broke one of her own rules to debut a look that feels perfectly suited for her next chapter.
The daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco embodied the androgynous minimalism that Coco Chanel championed at the start of the last century. It was in Biarritz that Chanel began her love story with Arthur 'Boy' Capel, a relationship Blazy paid tribute to in his acclaimed debut collection (Spring/Summer 2026) through a series of shirts made in collaboration with Charvet.
Charlotte wore one of those shirts with barrel-cut black tailored trousers and square-toe crocodile-effect heels. She surprised with her earrings, opting for oversized, statement pieces for a woman who doesn't typically wear pieces like this.
The closing look from Chanel's Autumn/Winter 2026-2027 show in Paris back in March was a restrained, long-sleeved black dress whose delicate draping almost disappeared into the darkness of the fabric. That's the piece Kidman chose to wear to Biarritz.
The payoff, revealed only at the very last moment of that original runway presentation, is a spectacular open back, with a deep drop below the waist and a stunning black feather flower that functions as the look's only jewelry. She paired it with low kitten-heel slingbacks.
"In New York, the two essential accessories are a dog and a coffee," said Matthieu Blazy after presenting the Métiers d'Art 2026 show inside an abandoned Manhattan subway station. That story lives in the two-piece tweed set worn by Spanish actress Bárbara Lennie, the country's primary representative at this event.
Swinton went for a light tailoring set from the Autumn/Winter 2026-2027 collection: a delicate shirt with gold camellia buttons, the house's signature motif, paired with a matching blazer and black shorts, with the same gold buttons throughout. Bicolor square-toe heeled mules finished the look.

Elegance without noise, as only a French woman can. Cotillard wore a simple black midi slip dress with a deep neckline and thin straps, paired with pointed black kitten-heel mules. Small earrings, rings, and a bracelet added just enough without adding anything at all.
A$AP Rocky, Rihanna's partner, who was also named Chanel's global ambassador in November 2025, made his presence in Biarritz a statement about where Matthieu Blazy wants to take the house. Rocky wore a camel suede Harrington jacket with tweed trim, a red shirt with gold camellia buttons, burgundy crocodile-effect shoes, and Chanel jewelry. The finishing touch: a large pink flap bag from which a tiny pair of baby shoes.
The award-winning director's relationship with Chanel started early; she interned at the house's Paris studio at 15. In Biarritz, she opted for a straight tweed shirt dress in burgundy, brown, and black tones, finished with a mini bag and black kitten-heel mules.
Head-to-toe scarlet, one of the defining shades of the Spring/Summer 2026 season, including in Chanel's own show. Elsesser chose a V-neck knit top and lightweight midi knit skirt in the same red, accessorized with a deer-print shaggy bag and beige-and-white bicolor heels.
