Gladys Tamez is a designer, known for her very specific line of work. She makes hats and has shared that she got in the business after she realized that the market wasn’t up to par with her sense of style, forming her own brand, Gladys Tamez Millinery. There’s no one like Tamez, who’s worked with artists like Lady Gaga, Kendall Jenner, Lil Nas X, Ariana Grande, Beyonce and more.

Tamez was born in Texas but grew up in Mexico. She studied in Monterrey and later on studied design in Florence. Her designs can be recognized from a mile away, known for her attention to detail and dedications to each of her clients.

Last year, Tamez opened her own brick and mortar store in Los Angeles, where her hats are sold from prices that range frrom $185 t0 $1,000. The creative designer told Variety in an interview:

“I want the space to be a destination for people where they can learn to appreciate the hat as an accessory — one where the hat is center stage and not an afterthought”

This year, she unveiled a new design, inspired and made alongside “EL Tesoro,” her favorite brand of Tequila. “When El Tesoro and I came together to concept a custom hat inspired by their incredible tequila, it was an easy creative process for me from there,” she said in a press release.

“I was immediately drawn to the beautiful packaging and presentation of the bottles, and the taste was like no other tequila I have ever tried. To understand how it is made and shared is to understand the soul of Mexico. It is truly an artist’s brand that I am proud to collaborate with and celebrate – an authentic Mexican tequila that makes me extremely proud of my culture and homeland, the place where I was raised and discovered my passion for hat making.”

Temez is a dedicated artist, preparing unique designs for each of her customers. In the case of Lady Gaga, the two worked together for three years and deisgned the look of “Joanne,” Gaga’s personal and country inspired fifth studio album.
