Although the wardrobes of European royals are usually governed by strict protocol, there is always room for new trends that they elegantly adapt to their personal style. When it comes to the colors dominating the season, baby blue has officially dethroned neutrals, taking center stage in the wardrobes of fashion experts and royals alike.
This soft pastel tone was the clear favorite this week for Queen Mary of Denmark and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, who pulled off an incredible accidental fashion coincidence. Despite being more than 1,000 kilometers apart, with Mary in Copenhagen and Sophie in Geneva, they not only wore the exact same hue, but both of their standout looks were created by the same designer.
Mary of Denmark and Her Romantic-Neckline Blouse
Each year, two Australian exchange students linked to the University of Copenhagen are awarded the Queen Mary Scholarship, remembering that Australia is her native country, and Mary of Denmark herself is in charge of presenting them with this recognition during a ceremony held at the center. For this occasion, the Queen relied on one of the outfits she has been elegantly recycling since 2022.
The monarch opted for this blouse made of Chinese silk crepe, a luxurious and light fabric, ideal for these sunny days. It is a design featuring butterfly-style sleeves and a round, knotted neckline with a subtle slit, signed by Victoria Beckham.
The monarch has combined this piece before with this same skirt from the brand DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and high heels from one of her favorite footwear labels, Gianvito Rossi. She did, however, take the opportunity to debut a new accessory: a thin, reversible belt made of leather, in eggshell and green, from Mulberry.
Sophie of Edinburgh, Serene and Sophisticated in a Suit
She has consolidated herself as one of the most active and dedicated members of the British royal family, with a growing institutional commitment that has led her to support more than 70 charitable organizations, earning a reputation as one of the hardest-working Windsors in the public eye. The wife of Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II, wins people over with her approachability and poise, which has led her to be considered 'the duchess that everyone likes'.
This time, she traveled to Geneva to serve as an ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, where she attended the 79th World Health Assembly. An occasion that required formal attire, which she successfully delivered by opting for a pantsuit featuring high-waisted flare trousers and a matching blazer.
A two-piece suit also in baby blue, "A sweet and powdery color that, far from looking childish, can bring serenity to any formal look and elevate any casual look," assures Mariana Torres, fashion editor at ¡HOLA! and which, just like Mary of Denmark's blouse, is signed by Victoria Beckham. The Duchess paired it with a white floral-print shirt from Lexy London, which we have also previously seen her wear with jeans.
