Queen Máxima recently returned to work with an engagement related to younger generations. Our favorite royal, once again proved that her style is unique and highly versatile.
The Queen visited the headquarters of the country's Scouts in Zeewolde, located in the province of Flevoland. There, she began her meeting by chatting with volunteers from different regions. Scouting Nederland is the largest youth organization in the Netherlands, boasting more than 115,000 members.
A Style Shift in Zeewolde
Looking back at her recent choices, Máxima of the Netherlands has typically opted for much more elaborate and majestic aesthetics. Today, given the nature of the event, she chose to go for a more relaxed and youthful finish to connect with the young Scouts.
The Queen opted to wear a khaki ribbed knit vest (a new piece from Massimo Dutti, reinforcing her fondness for Spanish brand), which she layered over a white blouse with a pussy-bow neck. The bow stood out at the collar like a scarf, blending in with the organization's iconic neckerchief.
To complete the look, she wore comfortable, straight-leg military green trousers and brown leather boots featuring a very wide gold heel, perfect for steadier footing in a natural outdoor environment. These boots are by Stella McCartney, and she has owned them since 2016, specifically debuting them on March 7th of that year.
In her hands, creating a nice contrast, the Queen brought back a charcoal-colored woven leather handbag, the Lauren 1980 Intrecciato model by Bottega Veneta. This accessory, named in honor of actress Lauren Hutton (who originally carried it in the 1980 film American Gigolo), was first worn by the Queen on November 5th, 2020, and has been featured in a total of 10 of her looks.
As for her jewelry, alongside several rings and her most cherished watch, she showcased romantic pearly flower-shaped earrings.
Another of Queen Máxima's May Looks
Following a weekend of personal and family celebrations, as she celebrated her 55th birthday on May 17, 2026, Máxima of the Netherlands resumed her official working agenda alongside King Willem-Alexander. Their official duties took them on a tour of Central Limburg, a region bordering Belgium and Germany, where they visited the municipalities of Maasgouw, Echt-Susteren, Roerdalen, and Roermond.
For her day of travel, Máxima proved once again that successful recycling is one of her greatest virtues when putting together outfits. The Dutch Queen brought back a magenta dress by Natan, which featured semi-transparent elements.
The design, with a crew neck, long sleeves, a defined waist, and a midi skirt, is from Natan and was first worn by her in June 2017. She wore it again three months later, in September of that year, during a trip to New York, and later during a visit to a military hospital in June 2019.
For the spring of 2026, Máxima showcased the most sophisticated way to wear it, opting to pair it with a matching large picture hat. Her matching bag from the Argentine label Santesteban and her Natan pumps with PVC detailing, a model she owns in 11 other different finishes and colors, completed the look.
