Madrid has fallen for the vibrant colors, elegance, and sustainability of Latin American design at the eighth edition of Fashion Week Latam. This year, top creators debuted their latest seasonal looks on a runway centered around the theme "Fashion that Connects."
The PONS Foundation, situated in Madrid’s upscale Golden Mile district, transformed into a premier destination for creativity, beauty, and art. Iconic Spanish designer Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada served as the event's guest of honor, bringing her trademark splash of color to the fashion festivities.
Alejandro Medrano, the platform's director, once again succeeded in his mission to champion Latin American design talent across Europe. The seasonal showcase was highlighted by Nicaraguan designer Anielka Monge, who charmed the audience with "Mi Vergel" (My Orchard), a collection inspired by the gardens of her childhood home.
The runway featured pieces made from natural fabrics, ethereal sheer layers, and ethnic motifs. The embroidered sacuanjoche flower has become the signature of her brand.
"I believe Latin American fashion is culturally very rich; it is a success to embrace our roots and tell wonderful stories through fashion"
When we asked Monge about her greatest lesson on this journey, she replied, "That if you radiate your own light, no one can overshadow you."
The brand Faride, a staple of Colombian fashion history, presented a sophisticated collection of dresses and two-piece sets designed for the modern woman. The garments utilized natural materials like linen, flowing silks, and organic cotton.
"These are sustainable creations. Our fibers are completely biodegradable, meaning they don’t create waste. The collections are produced in Cali in collaboration with workshops led by expert women who use traditional artisanal techniques," said Brand Director Pamela Acosta, who was joined at the show by her father, designer Fernando Acosta.
Renowned Mexican designer Paulina Luna continued to impress with her signature blend of architectural principles and fashion. "The values that set us apart as a brand are a rejection of gender labels and stereotypes, a commitment to our team, and a dedication to sustainability," she said in an interview.
Luna debuted VOYAGE FW2026, an avant-garde collection inspired by French cathedrals and a sense of spiritual peace. The line features high-end French textiles including tweed, silk, jacquard, leather, wool, and natural fibers.
"I love mixing textiles, playing with them, and discovering the unique composition of each one. I use oversize silhouettes to empower and help us feel more confident in ourselves"
Standout pieces included elongated silhouettes with frayed edges that explored the balance between the raw and the refined. She highlighted the importance of craftsmanship in an era of fast fashion, noting the collection is intended for those who are independent, disruptive, and proud of their identity.
