This year’s awards show was hosted at the El Gran Tlachco theater in Xcaret Park, Riviera Maya, a location that has been home to countless of special moments for Iberoamerican entertainment. The hosts were Esmeralda Pimentel and Majida Issa, who made for great entertainers and kept the evening on track. Some of the biggest winners of the ceremony included “The Society of the Snow,” or “La Sociedad de la nieve,” in Spanish. The film is based on the real life story of the survivors of the 1972 plane crash in the Andes, and follows their experience in explicit detail. It took awards for best film, best director, and best lead actor.
