It's been nearly two months since Perez Hilton's shocking TikTok live incident, and there are finally some positive updates. It seems like things are getting a bit brighter because he was able to spend time with his children again as he continues his recovery.
Accoring ot the Perez's family, he has been reconnecting with his three kids and his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, while receiving residential treatment for his mental health.
They shared an update on his website on Tuesday, September 29, revealing that their first opportunity to reconnect came through video calls before Hilton was able to see his children in person during short, supervised visits at the treatment facility where he is staying.
“Seeing his children in person has meant an enormous amount to Perez,” the statement said. “There have definitely been a lot of emotions for everyone, but being able to spend that time together has been incredibly meaningful and healing.”
Perez Hilton’s family shares update on his recovery
While Perez has been able to spend time with his children again, his family emphasized that his recovery remains the priority.
“He’s continuing to work with his care team on understanding what led to his mental health crisis, recognizing warning signs, learning better ways to cope, and working through everything that brought him to this point,” the statement explained.
His loved ones also acknowledged that staying in touch has been difficult. Perez's communication with family remains limited as he continues treatment, and they said they understand that he needs time and space to concentrate on his recovery.
For now, there is no confirmed date for when he will leave the residential facility or return home. His family said they are following the guidance of his doctors, psychiatrists, and therapists rather than rushing the process.
“Nobody wants to rush anything,” the statement read. “For now, we’re all taking things one day at a time.”
Perez Hilton’s mom is caring for his three children
The latest update also included a message of gratitude for the people who have helped the family during this difficult period.
Hilton's longtime friend Tom D'Angora organized a GoFundMe campaign to help Teresita care for the blogger's three children while he remains in treatment. His family thanked those who have donated money, reached out with messages, and offered support.
The fundraiser comes as Teresita continues to take on the children's day-to-day care. In August, a judge granted her temporary custody, with Hilton agreeing to the arrangement. Court documents reported by TMZ also outlined conditions for his visits with the children, including supervision by an approved family member or mental health professional and psychiatric clearance.
Hilton's latest update comes nearly two months after the incident that led to his hospitalization.
In early August, authorities responded to his South Florida home after a disturbing livestream on TikTok raised concerns about his safety. He received medical treatment for his injuries, which included broken bones, before later transitioning to a residential treatment program focused on his mental health.
The family also confirmed that Perez's children and other relatives who were at the home when it happened fled the scene.
