Presley Gerber’s remains cremated days after his death at 27

Presley Gerber’s family has reportedly taken another difficult step following the model’s death at age 27.

Gerber’s remains were cremated just days after his death, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ on Friday, Sept. 25.

The son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber died Sunday, Sept. 20, while staying at a luxury rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles.

Gerber’s Family Will Keep His Ashes

According to the death certificate, Gerber was cremated at Rose Family Funeral Home. His occupation was listed as an entrepreneur working in the mental health field.

His parents, Crawford and Rande, are expected to keep their son’s ashes at their home.

An autopsy has reportedly been completed, but officials have not yet determined a cause of death. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner is awaiting additional test results before making a final determination.

Sources also told TMZ that the family is making plans for a funeral service expected to be private and relatively small.

Forest Lawn and Malibu Presbyterian Church are reportedly being considered as possible locations, with the service potentially taking place within the next week.

Friends Rally Around the Gerber Family

The Gerber family has reportedly been surrounded by close friends following Presley’s death, including actress Laura Dern and George Clooney.

As more details emerge about the circumstances surrounding his death, reports have shed additional light on what happened inside the rehab facility.

According to sources described as close to the investigation, Gerber was discovered in a bedroom at the facility on Sept. 20. He had reportedly checked into the treatment center the night before.

The sources claimed he suffered cardiac arrest and was found near, rather than on, the bedroom bed. They did not provide additional details about exactly where he was found.

Investigation Into His Death Continues

At this point, fentanyl has reportedly not emerged as a focus of the investigation, according to TMZ.

However, officials will have to wait for toxicology results before determining whether any substances played a role in Gerber’s death.

Previously released 911 dispatch audio from the Santa Monica rehab facility appeared to show how quickly the emergency escalated. The initial call came in around 9:35 a.m. on Sept. 20 for a cardiac arrest. Three minutes later, the call was reportedly upgraded to an overdose, before its priority was raised again around 9:40 a.m.

Questions Surround Ketamine Prescription

Following the release of the emergency dispatch audio, sources close to Gerber told TMZ that a doctor had allegedly prescribed him ketamine despite reportedly being aware of his previous struggles with the drug.

Ketamine has legitimate medical uses, including certain treatments involving mental health, although using it specifically to treat substance addiction is not an FDA-approved indication.

According to TMZ, people close to Gerber were reportedly upset over the alleged prescription given his history of substance abuse.

Gerber’s death was announced last weekend following what had reportedly been a years-long struggle involving substance use, panic attacks and mental health challenges.

The investigation into his death remains ongoing, with the final cause expected to depend on pending medical examiner and toxicology results.
