Presley Gerber's death has surprised the industry. The eldest son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber died this past Sunday while in a rehabilitation center in California. He was 27 years old and had been struggling with addiction and mental health for the past years, sharing his struggles with the public.
© WWD via Getty ImagesOn Sunday, police received a call from a Santa Monica address for a cardiac arrest, reports PEOPLE. Another dispatch revealed that first responders were tending to an overdose at that same address.
While an official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, the autopsy has been completed.
As reported by the Santa Monica Police Department, there “was no indication of foul play.”
© Getty Images for Haute LivingEarlier today, the examiner's office shared a statement. “The investigation is still ongoing, and there is limited information available,” it read. “Death was pronounced at 09:45 hours on September 20, 2026, by responding paramedics. The Santa Monica Police Department is the investigating law enforcement agency.”
His family, made up of Crawford, Gerber, and his sister Kaia Gerber, also shared a brief statement: "The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Earlier this year, Kaia opened up about her brother's struggles with addiction. “When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said in an interview with Vogue. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
She also praised her brother for his openness. “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’ There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” she said.
“And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
