Prince Harry may be preparing to revisit his mother Princess Diana’s legacy in a major way.
According to reports from Daily Mail, Harry has reportedly been contacting some of Diana’s longtime friends as he works on a television project about his late mother.
The reported project could keep the Duke of Sussex busy during his first year back in Britain, especially with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death approaching in 2027.
Harry Is Reportedly Reaching Out To Diana’s Inner Circle
During an appearance on Palace Confidential, Senior Editor-at-Large Richard Kay claimed that one reason Harry has returned to the U.K. is to work on his own film about Diana.
“I am told that one of the reasons Harry’s here is to make a television film, his own film, about his mother,” Kay said.

Kay suggested the project could become a major focus for Harry over the next year, particularly as the upcoming anniversary is expected to bring renewed attention to Diana’s life and legacy.
Diana’s Legacy Could Reignite Tensions Between Harry And William
The potential project also comes as Harry and his older brother, Prince William, continue to remain estranged.
The brothers reportedly haven’t spoken for nearly four years and were last publicly seen together at their father King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023.
Kay noted that Diana has remained a significant part of both brothers’ lives and argued that William is just as connected to their mother’s legacy as Harry.

He pointed to the documentaries the brothers participated in around the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death as one of the last major moments when they appeared to be united publicly around their mother’s memory.
Kay also suggested that Harry’s continued focus on Diana and the Spencer family could create additional frustration for William.
Harry And Meghan Recently Spent Time With The Spencers
Harry’s reported plans come shortly after he, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, spent time with Diana’s family during their July visit to Britain.
The Sussexes stayed at Althorp, the Spencer family estate where Diana grew up and where she is buried.
“Let’s not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July, it was Diana’s family at Althorp,” Kay said.
The timing is notable, considering Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, recently announced that he has written a new book about his sister.
The Sussexes Are Reportedly Looking For A U.K. Home
Harry and Meghan’s renewed presence in Britain also comes as they reportedly explore the possibility of finding a permanent home in the U.K.
Daily Mail Editor-at-Large Alison Boshoff previously reported that the couple has been considering properties in the Cotswolds, with a film studio reportedly among the features on their wish list.

William And Catherine Aren’t Planning To React
Meanwhile, William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, reportedly have no intention of changing their routine because of Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain.
According to Palace Confidential Diary Editor Richard Eden, friends of the couple believe they see no reason to respond.
“They are two people who are now private citizens, not working royals,” Eden said. “It should make no difference whether they are in California or Britain.”
Eden compared the situation to dealing with a child who keeps demanding more attention, arguing that giving in could encourage further demands.
“You have got to be firm with them, or it will lead, I think, to the end of the monarchy,” he claimed.
With Diana’s 30th anniversary approaching, Harry’s reported plans could put the late princess—and the complicated relationship between her two sons—back in the spotlight once again.
