Amal and George Clooney turned the streets of Venice into their own romantic movie set during a glamorous dinner date in the Italian city.
The couple was photographed leaving the Aman Venice on September 1 after enjoying dinner at the same luxurious hotel where they celebrated their wedding nearly 12 years ago. Smiling as they made their way toward a water taxi, the pair looked like they had stepped straight out of a classic rom-com.
Amal appeared particularly joyful during the nighttime outing. The human rights lawyer walked closely behind her husband and rested a hand on his back as they approached the water.
In another playful moment, she swept her long hair away from her face while smiling for the cameras. The romantic setting, their effortless chemistry and Amal’s flowing white dress gave the evening a distinctly cinematic quality.
For the sentimental return to their wedding venue, the 48-year-old embraced modern bridal glamour in a sleeveless white maxi dress. The fluid creation featured a simple column silhouette before falling into layers of dramatic fringe from the thighs to the floor.
The embellishment floated behind Amal as she walked, adding movement and a glamorous 1920s-inspired finish to the otherwise minimalist design. A high slit also offered flashes of her metallic gold pumps as she stepped onto the dock.
Amal kept her accessories understated, allowing the dress and its cascading fringe to remain the focus. She completed the romantic look with delicate earrings and her signature voluminous brunette waves, which were styled in a side part and swept over one shoulder.
Her beauty look followed the same soft, luminous direction. Smoky eyes, glowing skin and a glossy nude lip complemented both the neutral palette of her outfit and the warm lights of Venice after dark.
George, 65, coordinated with his wife in an elegant light gray suit worn with an open-collar white shirt. By skipping a tie and leaving the top buttons undone, the actor gave traditional tailoring a relaxed Mediterranean update. Beige suede loafers completed his polished summer look.
The evening served as a romantic trip down memory lane for the couple, who gathered with family and famous friends at the historic Aman Venice for their star-studded wedding celebration in September 2014. The property is housed inside Palazzo Papadopoli, a grand residence overlooking the city’s famous canal.
Their dinner came ahead of the opening of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, where George was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
Amal later accompanied him to the premiere of Ink, exchanging her ethereal white dress for a fitted black Tom Ford gown. The couple arrived in Venice following time at their Lake Como residence, where Amal had already been serving a series of sophisticated Mediterranean looks.
She continued the fashion streak upon arriving at the festival in an olive satin short suit from Tom Ford. Between the meaningful location, coordinated outfits and their beaming expressions, however, this dreamy date night may have been their most romantic Italian fashion moment yet.
