Christina Aguilera is giving fans a rare peek at life away from the stage, and her 12-year-old daughter, Summer Rain, is stealing the spotlight. The 45-year-old singer shared a new collection of photos from her summer, including a sweet mother-daughter moment with Summer that showed just how grown-up the tween has become.

In the snap, Aguilera leaned against her daughter as the pair posed together in front of a light blue vehicle. Summer sat on the hood in jeans, wrapping her arms around her famous mom while smiling for the camera.

Aguilera kept things casual in black jeans and a red, white, and blue American flag-inspired T-shirt, with her signature platinum blonde hair worn loose. The Grammy winner summed up the end-of-summer photo dump with one playful word: “Summerween.”

The appearance stands out because Aguilera has generally been selective about how much of her children’s lives she shares publicly.

She welcomed Summer in 2014 with fiancé Matthew Rutler. Aguilera is also mom to 18-year-old son Max, whom she shares with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.

While the latest picture is a simple family snapshot, it also highlights the resemblance and easy affection between the singer and her mini-me daughter.

Summer sports an edgy brunette shag haircut with long bangs in the photograph, while her mom leans comfortably into her as they pose together.

The mother-daughter duo have occasionally appeared together publicly over the years, but Aguilera has made it clear that protecting her children while allowing them to become their own people is a priority. “I love my son and my daughter so much, and you do want to shield and protect them from the world,” Aguilera told Glamour in 2024. “But they have to learn their own lessons.”

Christina Aguilera Says Summer Is Already an Artist

Summer may have inherited more than her mom’s camera-ready confidence. Aguilera has previously revealed that her daughter is developing creative interests of her own, although they do not necessarily involve becoming the next powerhouse pop vocalist in the family.

“She’s such an artist,” Aguilera said during a December appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “Like, visual. She paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks and pieces. She’s just so creative.”

Summer has also shown an interest in acting and has taken lessons, but Aguilera appears determined to let her daughter decide where those interests lead. “I never want to push anything on my kids,” the singer explained. “Like, whatever they’re passionate about, I’m there to support it.”

She added that Summer was doing “her own thing,” making it clear that having a globally famous performer for a mother does not mean there is pressure to follow the same career path.

Inside Christina Aguilera and Summer’s Close Mother-Daughter Bond

Aguilera has described Summer as one of her biggest supporters, calling her “mommy’s No. 1 backer.” According to the singer, her daughter has even helped motivate her to get “out the door” when work calls.

Summer appeared in her mom’s 2025 documentary and concert film Christmas in Paris, and Aguilera has previously spoken about her daughter spending time around her performances and band.

But Aguilera’s approach to motherhood appears centered on creating space for her children to establish identities separate from hers. “They’re going to make their own choices and mistakes that define how they want to be,” she told Glamour while reflecting on watching her children grow up. “It’s such a layered, interesting thing to be a parent and watch these people, these humans, grow up.”

Although pictures of Summer remain relatively rare, fans have received a few glimpses of the family recently.

In March 2026, Aguilera shared footage from a family visit to Costa Rica’s La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge with Rutler and Summer. The getaway included waterfalls, wildlife, and time together away from the usual Hollywood setting.
