Dakota Johnson and Role Model’s romance ended as quietly as it began. The actress and singer, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, have called it quits after several months together.
As for when the breakup happened, according to a PEOPLE insider, the pair split “a while ago.” However, a Nylon story was just published on August 5, where the 29-year-old talked about Johnson. But it's unclear when the interview actually took place. Neither Johnson nor Pillsbury have publicly addressed the split, and representatives for both have not commented.
Rumors surrounding the pair began in December, when they were spotted grabbing dinner together. By April, they were in full-on couple mode, being photographed together on dates around New York and Los Angeles.
An insider told PEOPLE in April that the relationship was “definitely more than a fling, or just a flirt,” revealing that they had been seeing each other since late 2025.
The same source said the 36-year-old Madame Web star “does really like” Pillsbury but was taking things slowly following her long-term relationship with Chris Martin.
Another source described the couple as “very much on the same page,” adding that “it just feels easy.”
Then, just weeks before news of their breakup surfaced, Pillsbury confirmed the relationship himself. While discussing his album Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, the musician explained how Johnson unexpectedly ended up contributing to his song “Love I You.”
"I had a lot of names to pick from that," he told Nylon. But when Johnson stopped by the studio while he was working on the track, producer Mason Stoops suggested that she record a part. Pillsbury initially pushed back on the idea.“I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships,’” he told the outlet.
Johnson ultimately agreed to record the part, and Pillsbury said she “stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined.” “So I was like, OK, if she’s down — I mean, that’s an amazing cameo,” he added.
The result was a playful exchange between the two on “Love I You.” Pillsbury sings, “Hey, I think you’re perfect,” before Johnson’s voice responds, “You say that to everyone.” “Is it working?” he asks. “Yeah, but don’t tell anyone,” Johnson replies. He later told Rolling Stone it made the song "really special" to him.
Their famous exes
For Johnson, the relationship came after her years-long, on-and-off relationship with Martin, which ended in 2025.
Pillsbury was previously linked to Emma Chamberlain, with their relationship ending in 2023.
