Roger Federer is having a good time. The Swiss tennis legend is sharing a look at his summer plans, which include traveling, enjoying incredible-looking meals, and spending plenty of time with his adorable dog. Despite his retirement, Federer also shared some photos and videos of himself playing tennis.
The post kicks off with Federer playing tennis. A photo shows him wearing a grey shirt and black shorts, reaching out for a ball as he prepares to serve. He also shared a video of himself playing, wearing an all-white look as he shows off his perfect backhand.
The rest of the images in the post show Federer relaxing, showing him enjoying himself in the ocean alongside his wife, Mirka, playing golf in some stunning destinations, and enjoying delicious-looking pasta dishes.
He also shared a photo with his dog, who happily joins him in the car and kisses him in a sweet selfie. "Swings and things. Tennis, golf and everything in between," he captioned the post.
Federer on his retirement and embracing a new stage in his life
Federer retired in 2022, when he was 41 years old, having built a 24-year professional career where he amassed 20 Grand Slam singles titles and many more career singles titles.
In recent years, he's discussed the impact of retirement, sharing that it's been a relief. "I mean, the last few years have been tough with my knee. You could feel the end coming closer," he said in a 2024 interview with GQ. "So when it’s all said and done and you’re over the line and you’re retired officially, you take a deep breath and you’re like, 'Wow, okay, that was good.'"
Federer's last match was very emotional for him, with him crying as he played his last match at the Laver Cup. "Something that has always been with you is gone and will be forever gone, and you cannot have it back as much as you want it back," he continued. "The train has left the station. And that’s okay, and I want it to be that way, but of course you cannot just go from one day to the next and say like, 'Okay, no problem, that’s easy.'"
A couple of years later, it seems like Federer has settled into his new lifestyle, embracing the freedom while also retaining his love for the sport.
