Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco dated for months before they decided to share their relationship with the world. In a new interview, Blanco opened up about his relationship with Gomez and the price he pays for being with one of the most famous people in the world.
Blanco is currently promoting his new album, "Hermoso," made alongside numerous Latin artists. "It's not something I love," said Blanco of the spotlight their relationship receives. "It affects my life a lot. It's a necessary evil, a price I'm willing to pay in exchange for the things I get because of it."
"We kept our relationship private for a long time, about eight or nine months," he revealed.
"And she asked me, 'Are you sure you want to do this? I understand if you want us to just be friends.' And then I said, 'You know what? Screw it,'" Blanco said.
"We're lucky because we both have friends and family we've known since before all this, and we're surrounded by a good group of people we love."
Blanco reveals his working relationship with Gomez
In the interview, Blanco also opened up about his working relationship with Gomez, with the two working on a musical album together called "I Said I Love You First," which came out last year and tracks their relationship. Blanco serves as a producer, and Gomez performs the songs. The two are also credited as writers for most of the songs.
Blanco made it clear that their working relationship is simple, with there being no challenges. "We're easygoing people," he said.
"We don't have those kinds of fights. I would never raise my voice to her," he said. "If something doesn't sit right with us, she might say, 'I don't like that!' And I'll say, 'Okay.' And then we try something else. Fortunately, we don't clash. We have very similar tastes."
