Coco Gauff is one step closer to Wimbledon. The American tennis player defeated Jessica Pegula, winning her first Wimbledon semi-final. In the past, Gauff had never made it past the fourth round at the tournament, which is arguably the world's most famous and prestigious tennis competition.

Following the match, Gauff looked excited and shocked, sharing her feelings with the audience. When asked how she was feeling, Gauff said, "Honestly, pretty insane. Considering I hadn't won a match on grass in 2 years before this tournament. I'm definitely just really happy with how I played today."

Gauff went on to praise Pegula, a fellow American tennis player and friend of hers. "Jess is an incredible opponent and person; playing against her is never easy. I'm just happy to get through this one today," she said.

Gauff is 22 years old, making her the youngest player to reach the semi-finals at all four Grand Slams since Maria Sharapova, who achieved this feat in 2007, after reaching the semis at the French Open.

She will face Naomi Osaka or Karolina Muchova, who'll be playing later today and determining the fate of this year's finals.

Gauff, a vet?

Despite being only 22 years old, Gauff has plenty of experience in high-pressure tournaments. She opened up about this and the experience she's amassed, which she feels has made a difference in her nerve levels.

"After seven years playing this tournament, it's finally the first time I can walk on Centre Court and I didn't feel nervous," she said. "So I don't know if I'm becoming a vet."

Gauff has been celebrating her wins on social media, sharing photos and quiet yet powerful reactions. Yesterday, she shared numerous photos of herself on the tennis court, celebrating her every point. "Clock it," she captioned it.

Today, she shared a stat on her Instagram story that mentioned she was the youngest woman to reach all four Grand Slam semifinals since 2007.

The Wimbledon finals will take place next week, with Gauff playing on July 11th. The men's will be played the following day, with Jannik Sinner taking his spot.
