Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had a familiar face leading one of the biggest moments of their lives.
The newlyweds chose actor and comedian Adam Sandler to officiate their elegant black-tie wedding ceremony, which took place at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3. According to a press release shared with PEOPLE, the longtime entertainer presided over the couple's highly anticipated nuptials.
Family Took Center Stage
Rather than having a traditional bridal party, Swift and Kelce opted to keep the ceremony centered around their families.
Swift's younger brother, Austin, stood beside her as her "man of honor," while Kelce's older brother, Jason, filled the role of best man.
Sandler, who has become friendly with the couple over the years, was a fitting choice to officiate. The comedian worked alongside Kelce in the 2025 comedy Happy Gilmore 2 and has long spoken publicly about his admiration for Swift.
Sandler Has Admitted Taylor Swift Makes Him Nervous
Although Sandler is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, he's previously confessed that Swift is one celebrity who leaves him feeling starstruck.
The actor attended the Los Angeles premiere of Swift's Eras Tour concert film in October 2023 with his daughters, Sunny, 17, and Sadie, 20. After the singer warmly greeted the family, Sandler later admitted she still makes him anxious.
"You know what, Taylor Swift, because what she means to my kids, I get a little jumpy. Just 'cause I don't wanna blow it for my kids," Sandler said on an episode of SiriusXM's Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend in February 2024. "So I'm a little like, 'Taylor, Taylor,' like I talk a little too loud or something. I don't stay as cool as I can."
He also praised Swift's music, adding, "There's not a word my kids don't know. I know them too, by the way. But they know them inside and out."
A Swift Song Holds a Special Place for His Family
Sandler has often spoken about the role Swift's music has played in his household.
During an interview with Billboard in September 2024, he shared that one song in particular has remained meaningful for him and his daughters.
"Everything [my two daughters] throw on I love, but one of the first ones they threw on when they were young was 'The Best Day,' " he said. "We connected with that when the kids were young. Every album, we listen the first day it comes out. There's not a song they don't know every word to."
His Friendship With Travis Kelce Grew on Set
Sandler also formed a close bond with Kelce while filming Happy Gilmore 2, where the Kansas City Chiefs star made a cameo appearance.
Speaking to Extra at the movie's New York City premiere in July 2025, Sandler explained why he wanted Kelce to be part of the film.
"[My daughters] love Taylor, I love Taylor. Travis is just nice enough. He wanted to do something, so we wrote something for Travis. And when he said yes, my girls were very excited, including my wife. Everybody loves him," Sandler shared.
Later that month, he continued to sing Kelce's praises during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell. He's like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say."
Sandler also described the NFL star as "a stud," adding that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is "a great actor and a great human."
