Lady Gaga has spent much of her career making sure all eyes are firmly on her. Now, it is what fans are not seeing that has become the story. The 40-year-old superstar has reportedly retreated from public view following the end of her Mayhem Ball world tour, prompting fresh speculation that she and longtime partner Michael Polansky may have quietly tied the knot.
A report published Tuesday in several outlets, including the Daily Mail and People, claimed people in Gaga's circle have struggled to reach the singer, with one source dramatically declaring: "No one has seen or heard from Lady Gaga." The claim has fueled rumors that Gaga and Polansky could have slipped away for a private wedding.
There has been no confirmed announcement that Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky are married yet. And Gaga has not completely vanished. Just days ago, the singer posted a makeup tutorial showing off her minimalist beauty routine and, notably, her enormous engagement ring. The September 3 video showed Gaga applying concealer, contour, and lip liner while wearing the oval-cut diamond Polansky gave her.
Why Lady Gaga's disappearance is fueling elopement rumors
Gaga's unusually low-key period comes at a very convenient moment for anyone hoping to stage a wedding without the world's photographers outside.
She completed the Mayhem Ball tour in April after months of traveling, performing and promoting her blockbuster Mayhem era. Her final show was held at Madison Square Garden on April 13.
At that last performance, Gaga sounded ready for a change of pace. "I love you all so much. I can't believe this is the last show," she told the audience, before thanking fans for supporting her career and the tour. "I hope that you know how much you all mean to me," she added. "I hope you know how much we will all miss you."
The singer subsequently skipped the 2026 Met Gala, despite her longstanding reputation as one of fashion's most anticipated red-carpet stars. Her last major public appearance around that period was at the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in April.
She has since made only sporadic appearances.
In July, Gaga and Polansky attended the Los Angeles wedding of her longtime manager Bobby Campbell and Robert García. Gaga reportedly deliberately kept a low profile at the ceremony and did not perform at the reception.
Lady Gaga said she and Michael Polansky were marrying "soon"
The strongest reason the latest rumors have gained traction comes directly from Gaga herself. In March 2026, while sending a message to Bruno Mars during his Romantic Radio livestream, she revealed that her wedding was approaching. "Me and my fiancé have been traveling all year, but we're getting married soon," Gaga said.
She even asked Mars for help selecting music for the occasion: "We were hoping you could choose a special song for us."
A secret Lady Gaga wedding might sound unlikely for a woman who once arrived at the Grammys inside an egg, but Gaga has repeatedly suggested her actual wedding could be surprisingly simple.
