Vera Wang rang in her 77th birthday with a fresh new look. The legendary fashion designer celebrated her June 27th birthday with a belated dinner party in Paris, where she debuted a dramatic hair transformation that quickly stole the spotlight.
Sharing photos from the celebration on Instagram, Wang revealed she’d traded her signature waist-length brunette hair for a sleek, shoulder-length lob in a warm honey-blonde shade with dark roots.
She let her new hairstyle do the talking, keeping her beauty look understated with glowing skin, a soft neutral lip, and a classic French manicure.
For the celebration, Wang wore a sleek white halter gown with figure-hugging ruching and a floor-length skirt. She skipped jewelry altogether, finishing the look with a pair of black sunglasses.
A Birthday celebration abroad
In one Instagram post, Wang shared photos of herself posing in the hallways of the Plaza Athénée, captioning the carousel: “JUST DOWN THE HALL!!! B’DAY TIME!!!”
Another post, simply captioned “PARTY TIME!!!,” captured the designer celebrating with friends as a birthday cake topped with lit candles was brought to the table.
The elegant white cake featured intricate piping, “77” candles, and a card that read, “Happy Birthday Vera.”
She also shared a photo of a cappuccino decorated with her portrait and the words “Happy Birthday.”
“When the PLAZA ATHENEE serves you your coffee at a business meeting on your birthday! THANK YOU for such a truly lovely surprise!” she wrote.
A Paris tradition
Paris has become something of a birthday tradition for Wang.
Last year, the designer celebrated her 76th birthday in the French capital while unveiling another striking hair transformation, swapping her dark locks for a long, golden-blonde style with visible roots.
Vera Wang’s surprising fast-food favorites
Despite her famously youthful appearance, Wang has long said she doesn’t believe in restrictive diets. Speaking to Page Six Style, the former competitive figure skater revealed she’s a fan of fast food.
“I do eat McDonald’s, absolutely,” she said. I order it every day, like two weeks on it, and then I’ll change.”
She also admitted she has a soft spot for Dunkin’ doughnuts. “I like the cream-filled, sugar-coated doughnut,” Wang said. “It’s like a jelly doughnut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream. I like the pink with sprinkles, too.”
