Millie Bobby Brown is sharing heartfelt details about her journey to motherhood, revealing that adoption was something she dreamed about long before finding fame. One year after announcing that she and husband Jake Bongiovi had adopted a baby girl, the “Stranger Things” star is opening up about her future family plans and the deeply personal reasons behind her decision to become an adoptive parent.
Appearing on Kylie Kelce's “Not Gonna Lie” podcast this week, Brown reflected on childhood memories that shaped her vision of motherhood and family. “[I] always, always wanted to adopt,” Brown said during the interview. “It was always part of my childhood dreams.”
The 22-year-old actress explained that even as a young child, adoption was woven into how she imagined family life. “Every time I was at home and I was, you know, five, six years old, my parents were like, ‘You had your baby dolls. They were all adopted.’ I never had any of them myself. And I never pretended I was pregnant,” she shared.
While adoption has long been important to her, Brown clarified that she also hopes to have biological children in the future. “It’s not because I don’t want that,” she said. “Hopefully one day that’s in my future.”
The actress revealed that her studies in social work further strengthened her interest in adoption and helped her better understand different paths to parenthood. “I loved the aspect of adoption in my social work courses… so meaningful and important,” Brown explained. “And then I also learned about being a birth mother and what that journey is.”
According to Brown, she and her husband spent considerable time discussing what their family story would look like before moving forward. “So for me, my husband and I took a lot of time to focus on what that story and what that journey looks like. And then we embarked [on] it,” she said.
Brown and Jake Bongiovi married in October 2024 and announced the arrival of their adopted daughter in August 2025. “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” Brown wrote in a social media announcement at the time. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in peace and privacy.”
During her conversation with Kylie Kelce, Brown described becoming a mother as a life-changing experience, comparing it to “going from black and white to color.”
The couple has remained committed to protecting their daughter's privacy, choosing not to publicly reveal her face or name. However, fans have recently speculated about the little girl's name after spotting a delicate nameplate necklace Brown wore in a social media post.
Many believe the name could be Ruth, a meaningful choice given Brown's close bond with her late grandmother, Ruth, whom she has frequently described as one of the most influential people in her life.
The speculation intensified after Brown was previously photographed holding a phone case featuring the initials “RWB,” leading some fans to wonder whether it was a subtle clue about her daughter's identity.
For now, the actress appears focused on embracing motherhood while keeping her family life largely out of the spotlight.
