Cardi B may have the space for a dream home gym, but the rapper has revealed the heartbreaking reason she is not ready to fill it with workout equipment. The 33-year-old mother of four recently explained that she had already created a dedicated workout room in her home, complete with the appropriate flooring and mirrors. However, learning about the tragic death of Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter, Exodus Tyson, changed her plans.

The revelation came after a social media user questioned why Cardi did not simply create a mini gym at home, where she could have “easy access” to workouts.

Cardi’s response made it clear that convenience is not her biggest concern. Her children’s safety comes first.

Why Cardi B Decided Against a Home Gym

Responding to the question on X, Cardi revealed that the room itself is already there. “I have a room that was designed for that with mirrors and floors and all,” she explained, before saying that reading about what happened to Tyson’s daughter made her change her mind.

The rapper admitted she is “too paranoid” about bringing exercise equipment into the house while her children are still young and energetic.

Her concern stems from the devastating 2009 accident involving Exodus Tyson, the daughter of former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.

Exodus was just 4 years old when she was critically injured after her neck became caught in a cord attached to a treadmill at her family's Phoenix home. Her 7-year-old brother discovered her and alerted their mother, who called 911 and attempted to revive her. Emergency responders also performed CPR before taking the little girl to the hospital.

Exodus died the following day.

Police described her death as a “tragic accident,” with investigators reporting that the child had apparently become caught in a looped cord hanging beneath the treadmill console.

It is a tragedy Cardi clearly has not forgotten.

Cardi B Says Her Kids Are Too Active for Gym Equipment at Home

For Cardi, the potential risk appears to outweigh the convenience of being able to work out without leaving home. She explained that her children “do tooooooo damn much,” adding that she can simply wait until they are older before putting equipment into the room.

That means her home gym plans have not necessarily been scrapped forever. Instead, the space is essentially waiting for a future upgrade. “When they older all I gotta put is equipment in it,” Cardi wrote.

Cardi B Is Currently Raising Four Young Children

The safety concern makes more sense considering Cardi currently has four children at home. She shares daughter Kulture, 8, son Wave, 5, and daughter Blossom, 2, with estranged husband Offset. Cardi also welcomed a son with NFL star Stefon Diggs in November 2025.

The rapper’s comments also arrived around an especially family-focused moment. She recently celebrated Wave and Blossom, whose birthdays are just days apart, with a Disney-themed birthday celebration. “Happy birthday to my Virgo babies,” Cardi wrote in her Instagram tribute before sharing how much she loves her children.
