Kai Trump is addressing a viral moment earlier this week at Madison Square Garden. She and her grandfather, Donald Trump, attended the NBA Finals between the Spurs and the Knicks earlier this week. When the camera showed the Trump family on the jumbotron, the audience erupted in boos, resulting in many viral videos on social media, with Kai and Trump schooling their expressions as the national anthem played.
Following the game, which the Spurs won, Kai shared a dimly lit selfie with a New York Knicks cap. She's seen smiling at the camera. “The atmosphere was amazing,” she wrote over the post. “Let’s get that win on Wednesday. Go Knicks.”
Trump is a native New Yorker, with his security detail announcing ahead of time that he would be attending the game. The announcement prompted tighter security from the NYPD, setting up a perimeter around the venue that prevented a watch party and shut down 14 blocks.
Kai Trump's support for her grandfather
Kai has accompanied her grandfather to various public events. As an athlete herself, Kai often goes to different sporting events, including UFC fights. As one of the younger members of the Trump family, her life has gained the interest of the public, with her having millions of followers on social media and sharing vlogs and content about her trips and lifestyle. She's often discussed her experience playing golf with Trump, with both bonding over the sport. She'll be starting her college career soon, at the University of Miami, where she'll continue to play golf.
It's a different approach to that of Barron Trump, who's one year older yet rarely appears in public events.
Kai spoke at the 2024 RNC, discussing her grandfather and raising her public awareness. “On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard that he had been shot, and I just wanted to know if he was okay,” she said at the time. “It was heartbreaking that someone would do that to another person. A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell, and he’s still standing.”
She's the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, and appears to be following the footsteps of many of her family members in supporting Trump's political career.
